What happened to the Enterprise-B?

but that was a pathfinder prototype and may have been expected to have only a short service life...maybe 5 years? ... before being retired and lasted 10 because of the Romulan Wars.

The NX-01 may have originally been a prototype, yes, but remember at this point NX is only a class name (it doesn't yet mean "Experimental" - that's not for decades yet). As per "Fortunate Son", there were three more ships of the NX class on the drawing boards. At least one of those has actually been built (Columbia), and I'm guessing the other two also have.

So there's nothing to indicate that the NX class, as such, was only expected from the get-go to last a short time. As to what eventually happened to Enterprise? Probably a special case. Assuming you accept TATV as canon, which most probably don't. :p

i am aware of all of that. i was just spit-balling.

it's been suggested that the E-B became the Lakota seen in Homefront/Paradise Lost as it's the only other E-B-style variant of the Excelsior class seen.

Why would the Enterprise-B and Lakota have to be the same ship? Just because they were the only Excelsior refits we've seen, doesn't mean they were the same ship.

More proof would be required.
