Picard's ancestor, gotta be.

I looooove "Fall Of Eagles"! And not just because of Sir Patrick. I swear. I'm here for whatever thing they come up with. I mean they DID already name a ship USS Leondegrance after Sir Patrick's Excalibur character, so, they're clearly up for cheeky shenanigans like this. ;)

TV Tropes has an entire article on this
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CelebrityParadox

It's great.

I loved how Last Action Hero had Sylvester Stallone play the Terminator because of that paradox.

That article gave me a headache  But yeah it's great indeed, thanks for showing me! And somehow I'm glad I'm not the only one who's obsessing over this sort of thing. I still want my 2024 Sir Patrick meets Jean-Luc in LA scene tho even if I end up having to write it myself

Maybe some of them got roles in the colour remake of Captain Proton? If that is the case than maybe Tom Paris is scratching his head wondering why so many the actors in that show look like people who are in Star Fleet. However, Tom Paris probably would not like the remake so might not watch it at all.

Supernatural did an episode with that premise exactly.
I don't remember the details, but one or both of the brothers end up in an alternate reality where Supernatural is a TV show and they take the place of the real life actors.
Of course, this happens in a tv show where the shows creator has literally inserted himself as god into the story who is writing the story of Supernatural in universe in novel form. So...

CBS hosed themselves on this years ago with an ep of nu-Hawaii 5-0 where the characters were booming along in a helicopter humming the Magnum P.I. theme and teasing each other over who they would have played in the series.

Fast forward a few years, CBS decides to reboot Magnum P.I., and they end up doing a crossover with nu-5-0.

The Mark VII shows were all supposed to take place in the same reality and had some light crossing over, which included Reed and Malloy from Adam-12 having a scene in the pilot movie for Emergency! Later in Emergency!'s first season, Johnny's obsessing over having missed the end of an Adam-12 episode because of a call.

In my head canon, Guinan looks like Whoopi Goldberg, but changed her appearance in the late 20th/21st centuries because she was getting tired of people asking her for tickets for tapings of The View

That is some A+++ headcanon right there, it’s mine now as well  It would have made a great little moment. Like “Guinan, why did you change your appearance?” and she says “just be glad Patrick Stewart is not as famous as Whoopi Goldberg” and Jean-Luc being like “what? who?” and Guinan then “never mind”

I honestly chalk it up to folks looking the same as people in the past. There are articles of modern celebrities looking almost exactly like people from the before or during the 1800s or early 1900s. The most famous is the joke about Keanu Reeves looking like several historical figures.

There are a limited number of genes that make up a human being, so there is a high chance that everyone on the planet has at least one doppelganger. Supposedly the reason being a near extinction event a long time ago that left us with not as many breeding pairs. I don't know the full details on this or if this just scientific conjecture. However, it does seem like at some point in all of our lives, we've all run into folks that look eerily similar to us.

So long story short - Jean-Luc is just some guy that happens to look a lot like an actor in the 21st century. One that is not nearly as famous due to no Star Trek: TNG. As for why they did not arrest Patrick Stewart initially? Um ... he had an amazing alibi and was in merry old England filming a secret cameo in an upcoming comic-book film and was no where near Guinan's bar? *nods*

Yes, I’ve heard of the Keanu Reeves thing - this is a good approach! In my corner the equivalent is probably people going on about how Sir Patrick looks like the Kennewick Man.

And yeah 2024 Sir Patrick probably has an alibi like that - which would only deepen the mystery of how there’s a strange twin of him running around who appears out of thin air on a street AND who seems to blow up defibrillators for some unexplained reason… I can literally SEE Fox Mulder’s excited face like “HEY SCULLY CHECK THIS OUT, this just came in from the LA field office…”

Trek has it nowhere near as bad as say, the Marvel movies. Spider-Man is a fan of Star Wars which exists in the Marvel universe, which features Mace Windu who somehow just happens to look like Nick Fury. Let's not even get into Padme and Jane Foster

That reminds me, I wonder if the MCU and the DCU exist in the Kelvinverse... if Kelvin Kirk knows what his dad looked like, Marvel movies could get a bit weird for him, and I can't even imagine how he'd react to watching Wonder Woman and WW84.

Perception is a weird thing. Even looking at pictures of myself I go "That's not what I look like; is it?" It's a weird disconnect.

"People tell me I look like this old actor. Frankly, I don't see it. "

Yeah, but how likely is he to watch centuries old movies and TV shows? He's not Tom Paris...
