Personally, I like to think that the other two boys were found dead in another part of the house after Sam's dead body, with moustache, was discovered.

That left the wife and Peter, the latter being the only survivor.

I just wanna know how old Peter was where he could have been an Ensign fresh out of the Academy during the fifth year of the Enterprise's mission. (Has anyone asked about that at the PHASE II website?)

They could've gone with one of Kirk's two other nephews and alleviated themselves of that growth spurt trope.

One of the DC comics annuals or specials (2nd Series) had Kirk on leave with all three of them on a camping trip on some backwater planet. The eldest, Jason Kirk, was about to enroll or was enrolled in SFA.
