Aren't they already established in Trek to be the Ferengi? ("Little Green Men")

IIRC, they established that the specific Roswell incident was the Ferengi. There are numerous other reported incidents besides that one however. Probably the two most famous Alien species allegedly involved in these are the Grays and the Pleiadians/Plejarens. They also play a role in various iterations of UFO/New religions.
I think one of them is a good candidate for who is it that is taking and training humans like Gary Seven, and giving them tech in the mid 20th century that seems more advanced than the 23rd Century Federation. His computer and sonic screwdriver (coincidently, the first appearance of the Doctors device aired only 2 weeks before Assignment Earth, so they didnt get it from Doctor Who) seemed to be more sophisticated than the Enterprise hardware.
It would have to be the TOS Pegasus, no? It had a more ambiguous fate.

Let's just say that if Dax appears in Picard or any other show, I wouldnt mind if they decided that Ezri (god rest her soul) had had an unfortunate accident and there was now a new host.
