What ever happened to the Romulans in the Mirror Universe?

Never quite "got" the Mirror Universe ethos.
If our heroes of the Federation have evil counterparts, then does that not mean, or should it not mean, that all the badass guys like Klingons, Romulans, Borg etc should in actual fact, be good guys or peaceful explorers in Mirrorland ?
That assumes it's a true 'mirror.' It's more of a divergent universe where the humans, instead of embracing peace and exploration, decided to forge their own empire instead. Really nothing in the universe really shows the races other than the humans as different. The Klingons and the Cardassians are still warmongering, for instance.

Well, I would tend to "assume" that if something is called a "Mirror Universe" then it would be a mirror for all in said universe, would it not ?
If other races still show the same character traits in this and the mirror reality, then it cannot be in essence a "Mirror Universe" as such.

Just a pesky "Mirror Image existence for Terrans Universe"
Bit too convenient for a tasty filler story in a long season of episodes.

The people on the planet the ISS Enterprise was orbiting didn't seem any different from those the USS Enterprise was orbiting in "Mirror, Mirror".

^^^ The Halkans. Yes, they did seem identical in both universes. Since the mysterious ion storm that caused the transporter cross-over was near their world, it's entirely possible that that area in space could be a kind of "nexus point" between universes, with the ion storm being a symptom of the weak time-space fabric. This could imply that the inhabitants in that region are unchanged, regardless of universal location.

Then again, it's only a theory... :)

Well if the opening to the Enterprise episodes of "In a mirror darkly" are any indication the empire existed before they landed on the Moon.

Although the guy planting the flag on the moon is wearing a 22nd century space suit.

Also, the animated graphic depicting the Terran Empire logo shows Earth spinning in the opposite direction. Are humans in the MU evil because the sun rises in the west?
