What episodes/films are you watching in preparation?

While news for Discovery is still trickling in somewhat slowly, what are you watching in anticipation?

Personally, I've been revisiting tons of TOS episodes based solely off the rumors we've been hearing. So far, I've been watching The Cage, Balance of Terror, and Whom Gods Destroy - hoping to find small connections somewhere. Additionally, I've been looking a lot at The Motion Picture and even the early production work of Phase II.

While it's obvious there are no existing reference to Discovery for reasons we're all aware, I'm still watching a lot of these to sort of get me in that "Discovery mode."

MODS: I can't seem to edit the title - or at least I'm not sure how with the new UI. Would you mind removing the "are" in there? I'd rather not come off as grammatically-challenged.

Tough to know what to watch. We have so little information beyond the era and the nickname of the main character.

Dude, you forgot Doctor Who Season 12 Serial 2! That is extremely important to the backstory of number ones mother!

EVERYTHING!

Well all the Trek series anyway, and anything else on Netflix that grabs my attention. ;)

Actually as I've pointed out a week or two ago, I associate the airing of Discovery as a new Trek show after a long hiatus, much like STNG was after TOS..so I watched some early STNG.

It's been interrupted by a couple of episodes of TOS for the 50th anniversary, but I'll go back to some early STNG soon.

I binge watched Stranger Things with my wife too.

Right now I'm re-watching TOS and DS9. Most probably I will be finished with both before Discovery arrives, I will re-watch after them or Voager or Enterprise. I didn't have decided yet

I'd love to rewatch Hannibal and all of Fuller's Star Trek episodes as a way to refamiliarize myself with his voice as a writer and the way he thinks. I'm not sure I'll be able to make the time, though. :(
