What episodes did you find really emotionally moving?

I have finally finished DS9 yesterday and the last +/- 10 minutes got me. Never thought a 30-year old, 2-meter tall man would burst into tears watching an episode of Star Trek.

I could never understand why The Visitor is emotionally moving, but it is. There's so much technobabble in it and it looks just like any other episode.

But it works. It affects you. Hard to explain.

Beyond the Stars, Sisko's speech is what does it.

Course Oblivion is a really an underrated, but moving episode. Mainly because no one would ever know happen to that poor crew.

Duet threw me for a loop when I watched it. You have this obnoxious Cardassian saying horrible things just to tick Kira (and us) off then later he breaks down at the end.
It was really heavy.

Yesterday's Enterprise--Yar trying to buck Castillo up by talking about the Ent C's tactical abilities, her scene with Picard, and then her scene coming aboard the C. And the scene we see of all the Klingon ships closing in on the Ent D

Who Mourns for Adonais--Take me, Take me, me me me....

Return to Tomorrow--Sargon and Thalassa's parting in Kirk and Mulhall's bodies

Obsession--Kirk trying to make Garrovick let go of his guilt. "If you hadn't delayed firing? No difference, Ensign. No weapon known would have made any difference. Then or eleven years ago. Report for duty, Ensign." Garrovick's head shake and resisting grunt a moment before always gets me. Kirk's own personal reinforcement of his own realization ("then or 11 years ago") of non-culpability is touching too. It is very hard to let go of a guilt, of a self-accusation--forgiving yourself is probably one of the hardest things in the world, because the self is often the most merciless of all judges. Kirk is both empathizing to pay it forward, and also to help himself. Damn sometimes Shatner is REALLY GOOD. He wasn't all chipped creamed ham on toast, not by a long shot. Garrovick sold this scene too...after Reilly he'd be my choice for recurring (way better than Mr. Leslie).

I like all the episodes previously mentioned, great choices! One episode that speaks to me is DS9, Once More Unto The Breach. Kor is becoming senile and the object of ridicule for his blunders with Martok despising him for his aristocratic privilege and denying him a commission long ago. Kor rises to the occasion going out in a blaze of glory, worthy of song with Martok shocked Kor pulled it off while conceding Kor deserves respect for what he did stalling the Dominion so they could escape.

TOS: "City on the Edge of Forever" - There are bits I don't like too much any more (mainly Keeler's cheesy and too on-the-nose speech in the soup kitchen), but MAN did everyone involved nail that ending. Just a stone cold classic.

TWOK: Spock's death. Yep, still works even when you know how the next movie turns out.

TNG: "The Measure of a Man" - The Tasha Yar moments and "He's talking about slavery" line still hit me like a ton of bricks.

DS9: "The Visitor" - Jake throwing his life away just for the possibility that his Dad might come back. And Sisko's disappointment when he realizes that his son isn't really living because he refuses to let go.

I also rewatched the DS9 pilot "The Emissary" a couple nights ago and the Sisko backstory stuff still worked really well.

When Data finds Spot in the remains of the Enterprise in "Generations". One of the very few good moments in this movie.

That moment pissed me off more than anything. They'd just killed off James T. Kirk (badly) and the filmmakers were expecting me to get more choked up about Data finding his damn cat.

Two more episodes that everyone else finds moving that never did anything for me... "The Inner Light" and "I, Borg." I never got caught up in Picard's alternate life mainly because we only saw snippets of it, and I thought that the TNG crew arguing about the ethics of destroying the Borg were beyond absurd.

Rather than list the ones that I find emotional that have already been mentioned, I'll mention only The Ultimate Computer. I find it emotional because it was the first Star Trek I ever saw where I realized the show was about more than ray guns and pointed ears. I understood Kirk's fear of being unnecessary as captain and being replaced by a computer. The scene where he quotes the poem "Sea Fever" is one that is seminal to my understanding and appreciating Star Trek

So many episodes in the franchise make me well up but I am going to post again with some episodes that move me that I haven't seen mentioned:

VOY: Lineage [B'elanna, to me, is a vehicle for mental health issues and her modifying her own child so it doesn't look like her is something I find all too real from people with depression and other things. I find Tom has a great part too.]
VOY: Someone to Watch Over Me ["You are my sunshine..."]
VOY: Infinite Regress [I know it may sound odd, but I find it quite moving to learn she has the memories of those she has assimilated within her and when she acts out the mother who has lost a son at Wolf 359...it moves me]

DS9 has a million episodes that move me so I felt a VOY-themed post would be more fun.

I just watched Devil in the Dark last night and the scene between Spock and the Horta started to get me choked up. Even though the creature looks like two guys under a moldy throw rug, Nimoy's expression of the being's emotional and physical anguish, especially as it thinks it and its entire race are about to perish, was really heart-wrenching.
