I'd probably (not 100% sure though) pick the TOS Enterprise because it's interior is less blinding. The nuEnterprise interior is so bright and shiny it kind of hurts my eyes plus it's circular structure makes me dizzy. Though it is more advanced. Maybe if I wore sunglasses...

I agree. The TOS interiors were less distracting and you could concentrate on the conversation and not the bright lights.

Not having the same viewpoint that has become standard is non PC.

That's not what "PC" means, BTW.

A bit harsh dont you think?

Seriously? I like RDJ, but his Holmes is barely top five.

RDJ's Sherlock is good, but totally relies on Jude Law's Watson to push it over the top.

RDJ is a good Sherlock, but for me it's all about Benedict Cumberbatch. :adore:

Re: What Enterprise Do You Prefer? NuENterprise NCC 1701 or TOS NCC 17

I'd place Jonny Lee Miller's Sherlock above RDJ's.

I like RDJ versions for some reason. Basil Rathbone would be my top for the past era and RDJ would be my top pick for the modern era.

No strong feelings here. Not really into the hardware or the finer points of ship designs. As long as it's recognizably the Enterprise, with the saucer and nacelles and all, I'm good. Beyond that, it's hard to compare 1960s special effects and art direction to a 2009 movie. Apples and oranges.

(I would've voted "Both" if that was an option.)

And, yeah, there does seems to have been a recent wave of threads that seem designed, with varying degrees of subtlety, to cast doubt on the reboot.

"What disappointed you about the new movies?"
"Do the new movies live up to your standards?"
"Will the new movies still be remembered years from now?"
Etc.

Maybe not quite on the level of "When did NuTrek stop beating your wife?" but . . .

On other fronts, I've enjoyed all the modern Holmes to varying degrees, but the Cumberbatch version is probably the best of the new batch.

Although I also have fond memories of Rathbone, Peter Cushing, Christopher Plummer, John Neville, and even Roger Moore as Holmes.

I don't own any Apple products, so it's impossible for me to see how Nuterprise is inspired by their design.

I avoid public polls.

Yes, Benedict Cumberbatch rocks as Sherlock Holmes, and Martin Freeman is great as Watson. They play off of each other very well, and I have had more than one really good choking fit of a laugh with this excellent show. :)

You left out Stewart Granger. ;)

Speaking of Holmes, I noticed at the bookstore the other day that there are now ELEMENTARY tie-in novels. Could be fun.

Lucy Liu does make a great Watson.

I heard it in some interview with Abrams. Either he said someone said it looked like a apple store or something to that effect. The designers may not have consciously used apple as a influence but some have said it reminds them of it. I really don't remember.

Yeah some people don't like polls. When I get polled on the phone about who I am going to vote for in a election I shy away from those. I don't trust the government so much these days to give them my vote stance.

On purpose. I also left out Charlton Heston, although that was . . . interesting.

Dang you guys have make me want to watch some Holmes. To late now and I too tired to read any.
