Pubert, it is one thing to have a different view. You may have found little things you liked about the Abrams Star Trek films, but mostly you dislike them. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that point of view. I respect one's views of liking or disliking aspects of Star Trek.

What you're doing (as perceived by some here, including myself) is imposing your view that Abrams Trek doesn't even belong anywhere associated with Star Trek, and doing it in the guise of trying to create meaningful discussion. That's the perception I have, and likely the others if I may be so presumptous.

If you wish to correct or alter that perception for the better, then great. But as long as you keep creating posts that do nothing but make comparisons (and judging by your past threads, they are in the hope that somehow the Prime Universe always looks like the paragon of all that is Trek, and that Abrams Era Trek has no place in Star Trek) then this perception will continue.

I sure like the differences between them because they are a testament of how much each era has its own idea of 'futuristic' that will never really be the same.
The bridge of the tos one gives me such 60s vibes and nostalgia but I think the new one looks more polished and realistic and it does fit more with my idea of how a spaceship like the enterprise would look, it it were real.
Some said it looks like an apple store but it's not a bad thing, it just means that nowadays' imagination is as influenced by its era and technology as it had always been.

It's as simple as that.

I never have said that. Since Nimoy was in it playing Prime Spock its part of Star Trek. The versions of Trek I like most are TOS, DS9, VOY and TNG but I don't like it all. TNG I hate to say it had to many episodes that were in ship. Enterprise was a mess compared to the other series. Basically I like some Trek and not others. Yes I have stated my dislike for much of the new movies and maybe to forcefully early on. Do I like some of it? Yes there is some of it I like. I liked Urbans Role. I like Nimoys part in the films and I also really enjoyed the battle scenes. Seeing people being blown off the ship after a attack ripped the hull open was pretty cool. There are other things I do like but sometimes when something disappoints also its natural to voice an opinion on it. I think most of my problems with the films stem from the writing and some of the characterizations of the characters.

Anyway, back to the topic actually under discussion, as to which ship people prefer...

I prefer the Abrams version to the TOS one.

That being said, I'd really like to see the "Abrams TOS" version - the one that nuApril commanded (with Marcus as his XO), and which is the immediate predecessor to the Abramsprise. Unfortunately we only saw it from the outside, and even then, only in the comics. I'd love to get a looksee at the interior of the thing, 'onscreen'.

Imagine the actual TOS Enterprise, but with modern SFX. It'd probably look like the interior of the Kelvin...

Do you happen to have a link that shows the exterior? There have been so many comics that I haven't been able to keep up at all.

Yeah Kor was pretty much a shadow of his former self but really came through in the end and died like a Klingon.

I probably should have put all the enterprises at least. More choice probably would have been better but I figured the earliest enterprises would be cool. I also figured everyone had a favorite of the 2. I have favorites of particular eras. I much prefer the Enterprise D to E. I also like the TMP Enterprise interior over the A interior. I stuck with 2 options here because of the era of the enterprises. I didn't think some would like them equally. Maybe I should have had a third option such as "I like them both equally". Then the poll would have shown preference and some that liked both.

The TOS Constitution Enterprise was the first we ever saw of any starship named Enterprise in Star Trek. The Constitution class Enterprise in Abrams Era Trek is the first we've seen of that ship in that era. I understand that that is what you were doing the poll on.

As for Kor, I enjoyed every single performance that John Colicos gave to that character. From the ruthless commander to the loveable lush, he was still the honored and honorable Dahar Master of the Klingons. He died as a Klingon warrior dreams of dying....in battle.

When the Kor episodes and actually all the episodes that had the three Klingons(Koloth, Kang and Kor) that caused Kirk so much trouble I was very happy. At first I was surprised just how far Kor had fallen but when he came through on his last episode I thought it was a fitting tribute to his character. Kind of neat that he was only in one episode of the original series but got some quality time on DS9 decades later. Pretty cool that the DS9 guys even thought to do that.

I don't have a preference. I like both. I'm being oppressed because there's not a third option on the poll. I demand that this thread be closed and four new ones each with a separate slightly differently worded poll asking me to choose between some trivial aspect of oldTrek and nuTrek be posted immediately.

A bit harsh dont you think? One is not allowed to see what ship most like? No one will stop you from posting a multi-level poll ifmyou wish.

Its a clear cut question. If you feel uncomfortable or sensitive because he may not love nuTrek. Simply dont vote.

TOS is the ship with my preferred exterior design. It's simply a timeless design which exudes grace and function.

NuTrek Enterprise, though I know and can appreciate why they did it, just doesn't appeal to me in the same way. The engine pods so close together make it look cross-eyed imo. Moving them apart may make a difference, but I doubt that's going to happen.

Interior-wise, NuEnterprise does a much better job at conveying a plausible idea of what interiors of large space ships of the far distant future may actually look like. (eta yes, that does sound like a load of crap! )
I liked TOS interiors in its day but they haven't aged well at all, imo.

Well I was going for a early enterprise incarnation in both universes. To put the TMP version would have made the poll lopsided. Maybe I should have. But hey at least you voted for the one you like. Feel free to post interior or exterior pics also.

I have that comic. It seems to look exactly like the one from the movie. I don't even get why they bothered to create a new Enterprise for that story. Plus its canonical status is debatable.

I think Kor may also have made one appearance in The Animated Series, but James Doohan probably voiced him...it certainly didn't sound like John Colicos.

Yeah, I was grateful that the DS9 producers gave Kor as much story as they did.

I would've loved to speak to the late, great John Colicos to hear about his views on Kor, both TOS and DS9.

I haven't seen that ep of tas yet. Pretty cool. When I get Netflix back I am planning on watching all the tas eps. I saw a few when they re-ran them when I was young but never saw them all.

Yeah sadly Colicos passed away. I never did see him at a convention.
