What do you think of 21st Century era?

First eight years off a young century we're living in, that explore my curiosity to question this, how far have we make it? Back in seventies, people who were predicting that we would be living in completely new world that we haven't gone before, like flying cars, futuristic cities, much more that I can remember them by. None of them have becoming a reality so far. We're still depending and ties to that foreign oil. That concern me the great deal. I don't know when we ever will going to free ourselves from depending on foreign oil. Hopefully that's about to change soon!

In the era of 21st century, we're now dealing with North Korea that they're in the production of nuclear weapons, it could threatening our very peace that we dear to our hearts. To me, it will be proven difficult to getting nuclear weapons off the world. They wouldn't letting nuclear weapons go that easily. That concerns me, they could destroying us if they wants to. This could invites war with North Korea.

Another situation that we still have to dealing with terrorist organization, Al-Qaeda. Of course, Taliban. They're spreading like cancer, they won't go away so easily. It will be very impossible to defeating them in our times. How long do you think we could go on like this?

Since 23rd century events occurred in Star Trek, that got me to wondering, will we ever be in peace, to getting along with other races with great respect of all? I don't know what future holds out for us.

Friend of mine and I had this long discussion a few months ago, he told me that he predicted that in 200 or 300 later, future people would have no problem to bring people back from being frozen and reclaim their lives here on the earth in such strange place that they're no longer familiar to them. He said that more, powerful advanced technology will be there to revive them. To me, that's very interesting topic to discuss, because it would offer them a second chance to starting over and forgetting 21st century for what they must have been putting through. That is, I don't know if that will be becomes a reality. Do you think that could be becomes reality at long last?

And he told me that Mars will be becoming earth-like world by that time they're completing terraforming that beautiful world. He felt that it will be more like Star trek-ish. That wild prediction that he must have in his head, there's no way that events could be becoming reality, could they?

Many of future events that has yet to occurred. So what's your thoughts on 21st century?

In 1912 the Titanic sank in the North Atlantic, taking over 1,500 people with it.

In 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated, kicking off the worst war the world had ever seen.

But if you were to sit down today and write out the great tragedies of the 20th century, both of these fall far down the list behind the events that came afterwards. A century is a long time. Bad things will continue to happen, just as they have throughout all human history. Will the 21st century be bloody? Yes, just like the 20th, the 19th, the 18th...and so on.

So don't worry about it too much, nothing is any different now than it ever was.

And if you can't forget about all that stuff, consider this: Americans suffer the equivalent of ten September 11th attacks EVERY YEAR. You probably don't think about it too much because you hear about automobile accidents all the time. But they happen every day at far, far faster rate than Al Queda could ever hope to accomplish. Even if they got a nuclear bomb they'd still have a challenge matching the death toll of traffic fatalities.

My point is, I drive every day. So I'm not about to get frightened by terrorists or North Korea or swine flu or the million other things out there that could kill me. Just live your life one day at a time. That's all you can do.

Of course, we cannot forget the terrible event that enters our day. It's one of darkest day in the first decade of 21st century. It won't be that simple to defeat them, they'll be around for a while longer. And I understand your point, small white car.

I consider the 21st Century having started January 21, 2009. The first eight years were a tragic and ridiculous write-off which will take the REST of the century to repair.

Ask me again on January 1, 2101 (which should around the release date of the idiots that screwed up the first eight years).

I see "Log Cabins" in our future. The U.S. has seen it's best years already.

I'm glad there aren't flying cars. There are enough bad drivers out there who have a difficult enough time with four directions. Why add up and down to their repertoire?

Flying cars aside I would have expected that by now roads would have been replaced by something similar to what you see in "I Robot".

I was hoping we'd hve moving sidewalks at least.

I am disappointed.

I figure the American people will be driven to extinction by heart disease within 20 years of the introduction of moving sidewalks.

Lets pass on that one.

I dunno, for those of us who need wheelchairs, a moving sidewalk sounds pretty damn good.

On the other hand, pushing my wheelchair everywhere does provide me with my ONE opportunity for exercise.

Wait....I lost my train of thought. What was my point again?

Well we are doing pretty good compared to the 20th century.

Then again we would actually have to try pretty hard to be as bad as the 20th century. Especially the first half which was just a horrible bloodbath.

As much as we sometimes think negatively with terrorism and wars or what have you the truth is that we are living right now in one of the most peaceful times in human history.

Europe isn't the powder keg it used to be.

We were supposed to all excited by the invention of the "segway," then we realized how meaningless an invention this was. I want one of the hoverboards from the 2nd back to the future movie...

What do you think of 21st Century era?
What do I think? I made it! Despite being over a half century old I managed to survive long enough to see it happen. I'll take that.

So far the 21st Century is a big disappointment, and not just for the lack of flying cars. Neither the Space Program nor social progress is anywhere near where I expected it to be when I was a kid. And pop culture just seems to get more barbaric all the time.
