What do you get at the consession stand at the movies?

We usually get our tickets for the movies at Costco. It comes with a concession stub that gets you a large popcorn and 2 drinks. So, the movie for two, plus snacks is $24. Great deal. Sometimes I'll bring in some chocolate - like Monday, when we go to see Fury. I'll be bringing some leftover Halloween candy with me as well.

How do you spread Nutella onto mayonnaise? Or spread mayonnaise onto Nutella? Or do you just mix them up in the jar and eat with a spoon?

Haven't been to a cinema in about 12 years since the eyes got fucked up.

Yes, but NUTELLA AND MAYONNAISE???? :alienblush:
:eek::eek::eek:
I love both Nutella and mayonnaise, but the thought of eating them together makes my stomach heave.

Anyway, we don't go to the first-run theater often, so it's a big deal when we go. If the kids are with me, we'll get a big tub of popcorn and two bottles of water to share. Maybe we'll get a box of candy each. We're more likely to go to the second-run theater that is just a few blocks from our house. There we'll get a large tub of popcorn to share and two lemonades. They give free refills during the movie. :p If I go alone, I'll usually get just a soda. I hate being thirsty.

They spread the mayo first on this flatbread/pancakey thing they cook up on a big ole' round griddle. Then they spread the Nutella. It is called a "Combo". You can also have just mayo or just Nutella.

Or just no.
Hell no.

Due respect to Nutellians

How often do you folks go to the cinema ?

This year's been quite quiet - I've seen Gravity, Transformers, Winter Soldier, Spider Man 2, Godzilla, X Men, Planet of the Apes and Guardians of the Galaxy.

I'll certainly see The Hobbit and despite not liking the look of it, wife and child will probably drag me to Interstellar.

That's ten movies - some of which I even liked...

I went to see Star Trek Into Darkness, and before that Star Trek (2009).

I used to love movie popcorn, but no theater ever makes it with enough butter, so I gave up. I like it absolutely dripping with the stuff. I can hear my arteries complaining even as I type this.

Have you tried just asking for more butter? They'll do that, you know.

Gummy Care Bears, the sad little Hot Dog that's been on the roller since who knows when and Cherry Coke.

Besides what I have in my big purse.

Wow, I thought less than once a month was low level movie- going !
If it were up to me, I'd be at the movies every weekend. I love movies.
So do I, but there just aren't enough I like that are worth seeing at a cinema - a good portion of those I've seen this year were taking Jr. to see crud like Transformers and Gravity.

I watched Grand Budapest Hotel on Bluray today. I didn't like it, but that wasn't due to seeing it at home - I'm sure it was no better on a big screen.

Of the movies I do fancy seeing, I only really go to the ones that benefit from the big screen and sound systems.

Before I came here, I was like Relayer and Rainbow, going to the theater maybe once a month or more, also loving movies! Here. Never! The last movie I saw here was Avatar. Yep. (That is where I saw that Nutella mayo delight.) Here, the movies are aallllllll cut up and censored and edited and stupid. And, worse, the behavior in the theaters is so far past abysmal, you would think it was one of those reality shows put on to make you nuts and react to the cameras. Seriously. Cell phones, talking, shouting, moving around. And when the lights come up, the pigsty mess on the floor is beyond the pale.

At a small theater in Toronto they sell the tickets at the concession stand, so in that case I'll buy the tickets at the concession stand. That's about it. I don't think that I've ever bought food or a drink at a theater.

I make up for going years without going to the movies by seeing Trek multiple times in the cinema. And Star Wars as well, looking fwd to the next one :techman:

I think I enjoyed going to movies more before everything became gigaplexes. In the 60s, early 70s, there were 2-screen and 4-screen theaters mostly. Movies were still something like a small community gathering. I actually liked old single screens the best. When I lived in a small college town, there were 3 single screens within walking distance of campus. But we never got any major titles first run there. One double feature was Patton and M*A*S*H.

Nachos, and they are all mine too. That is the best cheese to me.
I did go to a theater in New Orleans that served Margaritas in the lobby once.

CCC.

Last movie I saw in a theater like that was 11 Harrowhouse, about a diamond heist, right before they tore the theater down and made a plaza. It was on old Main street.

I love the Nachos with hot dipping cheese.. unhealthy as hell and expensive as fuck but i don't go to the movies every week.

Usually it's a Coke and these Nachos but most of the time i just skip the concession stands because of the prices and prefer to eat before or after the movie with friends in a more comfortable setting.

Real Movies are insanely expensive here. Do you want to pay 17 dollars to see a movie that will be 15 dollars on dvd in a year?! NO. So I see them in cheap, cheap, cheap tiny of the very distant past cinemas for much less.

Except for Star Trek and Star Wars. Those I pay for the big experience, at least for the first couple times.
