What do you consider to be the Prime Timeline?

Doesn't really matter if Boimler didn't bat an eye when he stepped onto the Enterprise. Neither did Sisko, Jadzia, O'Brien and Bashir when they stepped onto the Enterprise. And Scotty pulled up Kirk's Enterprise on the holodeck, which was also Pike Enterprise in 2254, instead of Pike's late 2250s Enterprise.
You can recast a character and nobody bats an eye, but change the angle on the Enterprise's nacelle pylons...

Because it changes the look of the ship. I prefer the one that looks unique to the one that rips cues from other ships.

one difference is you don’t always have a choice when it comes to recasting an actor. The first actor could age out, price themselves out, not want to reprise the role, in some cases the directors could hate the actor (or vice versa) and in extreme cases…the actor could pass away in between appearances.

re-designing the Enterprise was a choice. They absolutely could have used the TOS Enterprise and I seriously doubt anyone bats an eye. But they chose to redesign it.

Here's my secret, Captain.

It all counts. Treating as separate is fine but doesn't make it lesser or moresser. Just layers of the same beautiful cake.

yup, one big beautiful, multi-layered, multi-timeline cake. And I don’t consider nu-Trek lesser. Different but not lesser.

A new actor changes the look of a character.

Still not seeing a difference. We can prefer one actor to another, just like we can prefer one ship to another, but in universe, everyone treats it the same.

That's the beauty of it all. You can see it your way and I can see it mine. :)

That is the key takeaway for me. These shows were/are made intermittently over sixty years by, literally, hundreds of different people. To me, the world that inspired SNW simply doesn't feel like it aligns with the world that inspired TOS. They are different shows, made by different people in a constantly evolving world.

Both TOS and SNW are good TV shows. That is all I need them to be. MMV.

I definitely bat my eyes. Every time I see the TOS Enterprise outside of TOS I do a double take.

That's fair. I just don't know why multiple timelines is needed.

That's me. The one that's important is on right now in front of me. Any variance I can reconcile with minimal effort.

I think Ira Behr said it best when casting Ziyal for the 3rd time (which can apply to redesigning the Enterprise):

"[In an ideal world,] I would have changed the role of Ziyal every single time – just to keep reminding the audience that this is all a construct." (Star Trek: DS9 Companion (pp. 423-424))

Unfortunately some peoples' interpretations of this fictional universe seem to drive other people nuts. Because for some odd reason those people seem to be very bothered by interpretations that aren't the same as theirs.
There is nothing so binding to a fan as their own headcanon.
