What do you consider to be the Prime Timeline?

I think some people expect Starfleet officers to be always formal while on duty and to always observe discretion, especially on the bridge. But I think that's where we're reminded that Star Trek is first and foremost a television series or a movie. Too much formality among characters can easily produce complaints of them being "wooden" or outright dull. While some may consider this just being professionalism and more proper behavior, it can also lend itself to lower ratings or lower box office turnouts--where the rubber meets the road. So writers will have characters do things for dramatic or even comedic effect that may not fly at all otherwise.

I mean, there's the example I always use when ever this topic pops up of Colonel Jack O'Neill on Stargate SG-1. That guy tends to be unprofessional and crack the quips all day long. When General Michael Ryan, the actual US Air Force Chief of Staff at the time was on set to film a cameo in an episode, Richard Dean Anderson asked him if actual USAF Colonels are anything like O'Neil. General Ryan answered "we have many Colonels who are exactly like O'Neill, and many more who are much worse."

And that's before we get into that time several years back where US Navy pilots drew a penis in the sky. So yeah, not really seeing how the SNW characters or any in a modern Trek series are unprofessional, compared to actual military personnel of today.

I'm not a theoretical physicist. I just know that Boimler didn't bat an eye when he stepped onto the Enterprise. Everything was exactly as he expected it to look. Plus, we have this poster appearing in your prime timeline.

Again, I don’t see how anyone can’t understand that:

- TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY and the first ten movies are in one timeline
- DIS and SNW are in another

And PIC, LD and PRO can be in both, due to string theory entanglements.

Doesn't really matter if Boimler didn't bat an eye when he stepped onto the Enterprise. Neither did Sisko, Jadzia, O'Brien and Bashir when they stepped onto the Enterprise. And Scotty pulled up Kirk's Enterprise on the holodeck, which was also Pike Enterprise in 2254, instead of Pike's late 2250s Enterprise.

Star Trek has always had unprofessional conduct. This is not anything new to SNW or the modern era. I mean, where do you start? McCoy was always leaving sickbay just to hang out on the bridge and crack racist jokes about Spock. Data once did a goofy Sherlock Holmes impersonation at an official briefing discussing the death of an officer on the ship. Chief O'Brien once brought his baby with him to Ops, distracting the rest of the Ops crew from doing their jobs. Harry Kim once played his clarinet while in command of the bridge, and continued to do so when a higher ranking officer (Tuvok) showed up. Trip Tucker once attempted mutiny and sabotage simply because he didn't understand what it was T'Pol was attempting to do.

Don't leave out Captain Shaw from Picard season three!

don’t forget the Defiant looking full on TOS style in the mirror 2-parter on Enterprise.

I’ve always hated the idea that episodes like Trials and Tribbleations or Relics “don’t count” because they contradict the look of the tech, uniforms, etc…in Disco/SNW or were made “just for the fans”

Because people are all different and interpret things in different ways.

Unfortunately some peoples' interpretations of this fictional universe seem to drive other people nuts. Because for some odd reason those people seem to be very bothered by interpretations that aren't the same as theirs.

That is also people. Sometimes some people need groupthink reinforcement of an idea.

And, of course, ENT is the most Prime of all.

Here's my secret, Captain.

It all counts. Treating as separate is fine but doesn't make it lesser or moresser. Just layers of the same beautiful cake.
