DS9 had a good run and now it is done, I'm happy to leave it as it is; one of the all time great TV series. All good things must come to an end. All you take with you when you're gone, is what you leave behind. Endgame. (Wait, that last one doesn't work. :wtf:)

To be fair neither does "Turnabout Intruder".

^ That gets a pass because it wasn't planned as a finale, it just ended up being one. The real TOS finale was The Undiscovered Country, so...

The undiscovered country, from whose bourn no traveller returns.

See, I can make it work. :p

Touche Sir, Touche...

There have been many rank the finales threads around here and TOS's finale really being TUC always comes up...

I'm very pleased with the novels, something on screen to lock it in (kinda) stone would be nice, (actually, something set a decade after the latest book with Taran'atar so nothing can kill him for at least that long!!)

But the novels have done a wonderful job of continuing the series, and any fans of the show won't be disappointed- well worth their time.
Because of the novels, I don't really care that there is nothing on screen, otherwise, I'd want a continuation. Too many possibilities.

As much as I'd love to see a big-ass DS9 movie, I know it ain't ever gonna to happen.

I wouldn't mind seeing a TV movie or two, or perhaps a mini-series; that sounds a bit more plausible, but still pretty unlikely at this point, I'm sorry to say.

Agreed. One reunion movie would be nice, but unlikely.

I suggested people from the Mirror DS9 try to steal 4 Federation ships and one blows up in the passage to the MirrorVerse creating so some kind of Energy Barrier trapping 3 Federation crews on the other side. So they get to engage in political intrigues with the rebels while trying to survive and create another Federation.

Kind of like a Voyager that can't possibly get back but has lots of unknown politics in known regions of space. It would not be so trapped in predictable patterns of the current Star Trek universe. And would not be so stuck with namby pamby Federation rules. Three captains and crews coul make thing more interesting. A bigger canvas to work with since they would be all of "Federation" authority in that universe.

I wouldn't mind a TV movie or two, maybe based around 'Avatar.' Just leave out Kira's attainter and you've got a decent, self contained movie.

The trouble is the cast... has umm... gotten older. It's still possible but... some of them have ahhh... aged.

Another series, picking up right after the Dominion War, largely with new characters. I'd bounce between DS9 and the recovering Cardassia, with Garak as a major character. Other than Garak, I have no firm opinion on who I'd bring back, if anyone.

Jeffrey Combs would be welcome. There's no way the Weyoun template was stored only in the AQ so he could be resurrected. The fact that he's aged since then might be a problem, tho...we Vortas do tend to die young. :rommie:

I'd want to keep Odo with the Dominion and I don't want him wussing the Founders out. There's no way one drop in the ocean can alter the whole ocean. The Founders can be peaceful...for now. They know how to bide their time.

Turn it over to professional TV writers. If there are some novelists who can transition to TV writing, then hire them. The Reeves-Stevensons did well with ENT, after all.

Yeah, that kinda excludes the ones who can't be disguised by heavy makeup. Now that I think about it some more, I'm less inclined to make this DS9-centric. Center it on Cardassia with occasional guest visits to DS9, which by now would have all new personnel anyway.

The whole seven year arc would encompass Garak's drive to resurrect the Obsidian Order and wreak vengeance on the Dominion, which the Feds try and fail to stop. This causes the Dominion to counterattack and this time, they win.

Then for the next series, we get the "Starfleet guerilla warfare" idea that I wanted immediately post DS9 (after the Dominion won the war).

I said a series but have it right after Nemesis. That option should have been after DS9, since that's what I've been hoping for ever since Voyager ended. Trek should move forward and I think there are still plenty of stories to tell in the universe and the aftermath of the Dominion War.

As for DS9 itself, it is over and had a great run. Let it be.

I'm pretty happy with what we got.

I think DS9 could have used at least one more season to tie up some loose ends.

There was plenty of material for a couple good arcs...

Bajor's entry into the Federation
Reconstruction on Cardassia
Dismantling of the Dominion
The new Romulan threat (to hell with ST: Nemesis)
Exposing Section 31
Sisko's return from the Celestial Temple

But that just shows how ambitious DS9 was. Too much material for a TV movie. They really would need a whole season to deal with those issues.

It is way too late now. They'd need to reassemble the cast and the crew and rebuild the sets.

Agreed. A lot of those storylines are dealt with in the DS9 Relaunch series, which I highly recommend.

Oh, and I love the name 'Robotech Master'; I'm re-reading the Robotech series right now. :)

Yes, I need to read the Relaunch one of these days!

I love the Jack McKinney Robotech books. I know that most Robotech fans don't care much for them, but I really like how he weaves fixes up all the inconsistancies and really makes the show feel like one universe rather three universes stitched together.

Oh, hey, I noticed you live in Ann Arbor! Awesome! I used to go to school there. Best years of my life!

They really FEEL like a continuation of the series. I hear fans talking about new episodes or movies, but I feel like I already have them. I'm quite satisfied - except for the long wait between installments. lol We've got 2 books coming out this year though, which is exciting.

I agree! I was waiting for you to diss me, as I've met plenty of fans who hate the books, but I think they improve on the series - giving it a cohesion that wasn't possible for the series itself. I love the books and I'd read them many times when I was younger, but haven't touched them in about a decade. I dug all 21 out of box a few weeks ago; I'm on the 2nd one now.

Small world! I've lived in Ann Arbor for just over 12 years, and it's really the only place in Michigan that I would live by choice. lol. I love it here. :)
