What do the Typhon Pact races look like?

^They may not be "evil", but this story seems to be building to an "us vs. them" thing.

Even assuming so, Tellarites are ugly, and they'd be on the "us" side. I don't think its fair to say the "friendly" races are all beautiful and the antagonists all horrible in appearance. I don't think Star Trek has ever gone too far down that road, happily.

Anyway, I suppose its in the eye of the beholder a lot of the time anyway. I for one find Cardassians very attractive, some others find them displeasing. :)

^Again, why this kneejerk characterization of the Pact as "evil"? I and others have been pointing out for months now that it's not going to be yet another simplistic good guys vs. bad guys narrative, but something more politically nuanced. Sometimes I think I'm just talking to a wall.

And for all we know, the Tzenkethi and Breen will turn out to be gorgeous.

And that "unwritten law" is just nonsense. In modern Trek, Romulans are consistently more "evil" than Klingons, but they're much more aesthetically pleasing. The Founders are one of the most "evil" powers in all of Trek, and they're simply neutral-looking. The Vorta are nearly as bad, and they're fairly pleasant-looking (by the Founders' design, admittedly).

I was thinking of the Jem'Hadar, the Cardassians, the Xini repillians (the insectioids and aqatics were awesome imo), the Son'a, the Borg, the Random Alien Thugs from the Ent finale, the guy who ran the Trellium mine...

Also the 'ugly' Klingons were designed that way as enemies of the Federation. I say TNG Romulans are far uglier due to their bowl cuts and stupid shoulder pads.

Also: You like how Cardassians look, Nasat??

^They may not be "evil", but this story seems to be building to an "us vs. them" thing.

Even so, those are two entirely unrelated concepts. Rivalry doesn't have to be "good vs. evil"; that's a simplistic, cartoony view of the world. There are few "good" or "evil" nations in reality, just nations trying to pursue their own interests and policies and coming into competition.

And you haven't read the books yet, so you can't validly make any assumptions about where the story is going to go.

Isn't there a pic of a Tzenkethi in the DS9 Technical Manual, on one of Odo's security screens? Kinda like a green reptile Kzinti IIRC

No. The images of Odo's security logs on p. 106 of the Tech Manual are labelled in Cardassian script, so there are no legible names given. The species depicted are a Ferengi, a "Tailhead" (a species I dubbed Chandir in Over a Torrent Sea), a "Buck-toothed alien", and what appears to be a member of the "Yellow Dabo girl's race." The species you're describing would seem to be the "Buck-toothed alien," but why you'd think it was a Tzenkethi is beyond me, especially since those images were probably made at the beginning of the series and the Tzenkethi weren't created until the end of the third season.
