What do aliens taste like?

In Indiscretion, Kira and Dukat stole Breen costumes, yet it was later said that no one knowss what Breen look like, as no one ever saw them without their suits. This may mean that Breen disinttegrate at temperatures we consider normal. So if you eat Breen, it'd have to be Breen ice-cream. I think it could be a real delicacy, if you mix chunks of meat through the ice-cream, like many types of fruit ice have.

Ha ha, I got this image of Alton Brown standing by his chalkboard with a map of the galaxy drawn on it saying, "Andorians come from the planet Andoria, here. The meat is best kept frozen, even up to when it is served, since Andoria itself is a frozen world. Most of the cheap processed stuff you find at your local mega-mart is kept cold, but still far too warm to retain the proper flavor. But preserve the meat just right and it's..." *cue "Good Eats" theme music*

And when it comes back from the theme music he's got little blue hand puppets with antennae talking about the chemical makeup of Andorian meat.

Okay fine, I watch too much Food Network.
:guffaw::guffaw:Food Network rules!:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:
I could go for some fried Cardassian liver with a double Cardassian sunrise.
I prefer mine with some Fava beans and a light Chianti.(sic)

Don't take hortas for granite.

I think it's time to sample a bit of TrekBBS post-er.

As for Klingons-I've found that if you slow-cook them the end result is quite a bit like mutton. I'd say, stick with the Andorians-they taste like chicken and go well with a good salad.

If I cook a Cardassian what would he/she taste like? Wife said lizard or snake. Opinions?

That got me wondering... how do you cook a Joined Trill? And do Betazoids taste exactly like Humans or would you be able to tell a difference in a blind taste-test?

We do not eat our aliens, Plecostomus. They are our brothers and sisters, our fellow sentients. We can learn much from them, and should treat them with respect. Diplomatic overtures would be complicated if we tried to eat them. ;)

Amen! ;)

That said....

Cardassians appear to be reptilian-mammalian, something with characteristics of both, not fully in either category. My suggestion, then: tastes like cynodont.

VERY cool to see that I'm not the only one who has classified the Cardassians as therapsids!!!! :D I thought I was the only one!!

(Incidentally, I think cynodont may be a model for the Cardassian vole--though the cynodont is considerably better-looking.)

Hmmm, yes, the Cardassian Vole is very cynodont-esque in appearance, isn't it? :) I suppose the fact that their version of a rodent has reptilian characteristics proves that mammals aren't found- or at least aren't common- on Cardassia, and that therapsids (thanks for reminding me of the correct term :)) are the dominant life-forms.

I'm going to assume that since human/human-ish life is so dominant that the expression "Tastes like human" has replaced "Tastes like chicken" throughout the galaxy.

I think it would make sense for therapsids to be the dominant life form. Their planet is warmer; there's less need for some of the typical mammalian characteristics (especially in the metabolism department).

To me, if you evolved a cynodont-type creature forward, then grafted the Preservers' genetic legacy onto its genome--a Cardassian seems like a very logical outcome. Which is kinda interesting, when you look at Earth's past...if not for the Permian-Triassic extinction, who knows...WE could be "Cardassians"!

I like it. Of course if our world's climate shifts disastrously then we COULD turn into Cardassians anyway...:shifty:

And I thought that Sprool was a Narn delicacy? It's very much like Swedish meat balls.

Spoo. And its quite good. Taste's like chicken.

^ You and DN are quite correct. Breen IS a Narn delicacy that tastes exactly like Swedish meat balls. (one of the great mysteries of the universe). Spoo is something different I believe.

I must revoke my status as a B5 nerd alas:(

Vulcans, Romulans and Rigelians are coppery. Andorians and Bolians are cobalty. Betazoids taste much like we do. Trills are best roasted, but symbionts can be preserved in tequila and used to flavour the hooch.

You've...given this a lot of thought.

A lot of well played, troubling thought...

This question must be contemplated seriously and in depth. Have a Tellarite gammon slice in apple sauce, sit down, and think it through :techman:

A bunch of us should put together a dinner party.

You know, just as soon as one of us figures out how to bring fictional characters to life.

And really, thinking about it now, if I could bring fictional characters to life, I'm pretty sure eating them (well, as food) wouldn't be the first and foremost thing on my mind.

You know what, just forget I said anything.

Hey, I'm up for that! :D

I am a strong proponent of global warming. Anything that makes me feel more comfortable for longer in the year is a good thing. 90F + temps = oh so comfortable for me... :cardie:

;)

(Actually, I AM comfortable in the heat. Way too much so.)

I'm afraid to say that I have real trouble in either hot or cold temperatures so although my intellect and what might be called my soul is Cardassian I'd be better off living on Romulus;)
