What Didja Get For Christmas?

So, what did you get? What did you give? Whether you celebrate the secular or spiritual side of it, Christmas is all about the love of family and friends, and the continuation of traditions. That said, it does involve gifts, so let's talk about that! I'll start.

I gave my niece and nephew 18" monster plush dolls.
I gave my Mom the Carol Burnett Time-Life collection.
I gave my Dad the "Dorf" super collection (starring Tim Conway).
I sent my best friend a sampler of chocolates and cheeses.

I received, from my Dad, an Old Spice gift set (I love Old Spice).
I received, from my brother and sister-in-law, a new shirt.
I received, from my Mom, Star Trek XII on DVD, which officially completes the set! I have pictured it below, in its natural habitat:

So, what did you get (or give) for Christmas this year! (Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and other religions/non-religious celebrations also welcome!)

*a collection of garden ornaments
*a tin of Cadbury Red Roses chocolates
*A pop-up Wizard of Oz book (I collect Wizard of Oz books)
*a glass fish, a glass umbrella for my glass figurine collection
* A Sherlock Holmes book (Baker Street Boys)

I gave

*No 1 son - $50 cash and a box of chocolates
*No 2 son - a wallet and Band of Brothers DVDs
*No 3 son - a Tyrion mug and a book The Wit and Wisdom of Tyrion Lannister
*My friend Dianne - a CD and $30 movie gift card and last month I gave her the limited edition 20th Anniversary Babylon 5 book as an early Xmas present
*My friend Tania - the four Dallas movies
*My cat Spider - some treats

Um... It's a bit early for that here in the Shendandoah. Only 6:45am my time, but glad you guys had a great Christmas already.

It depends on what you already have for the many things it can do, and what kind of alternative you had in mind. I should think it a pretty swell gift myself, and I'm one of the more practical and hard-to-gift-for people I know.

It isn't morning here yet. But I bought myself a bicycle which was delivered at the last minute yesterday. I don't expect much else, but at least I can pretend it came from Santa when I unbox it tomorrow.

I think it's quite nice, but I'm fine as long as I have a phone with texting. I feel like I'd rather have the phone I've got or a much simpler phone.

And also, there are some non-tech things I rather need at the moment. It'd be a nice gift to get otherwise; I just need other things.

Received from family:
  • Doctor Who: Scream of the Shalka DVD
  • The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Extended Edition Blu-ray Set
  • The Absolute Sandman Volume 2
  • Doctor Who: The Glorious Dead comics collection

  • Doctor Who: The Flood comics collection

Received from my girlfriend:
  • Fossil Ingram Magnetic Multicard Wallet

I felt largely the same way when I got my first Droid 18 months ago. I did not think that i would use many of it's features, but it has turned out to be handy for so many things. I use it for movie times, to check reviews for interesting restaurants, for navigation, etc. Most recently, I used it for price checking when I ought a new DVD recorder, and then to get Best Buy to pricematch Walmart (Saved me $60)

Does it matter that I have a Kindle Fire HD?

I won't list everything, but my husband and I are watching the Tinker, Tailor Soldier Spy DVD I gave him. As it happens we both got each other a Smiley's People DVD, so one of them will be gifted to his brother, whose birthday is in January. This isn't the first time we've purchased the same DVD for each other, and we've done it with books, too. Our sons are playing with the Lego train set we gave our younger son. They're 13 and 15, but you're never too old for Lego!

Mostly got money and/or gift cards from everybody. My mom also got me a bunch of socks, some candy, toothpaste, a wall clock, 16gig flash drive, bacon flavor lip balm, a knit scarf with skulls on it, and other random stuff. Probably doesn't count, but I bought myself a bunch of Star Trek figures and a TOS 2014 calendar. ^_^
