Hi,

which where the Top 3 Cartoons/Tv-series that you loved to watch as a child?
I have to say I never was one to watch a lot TV, but there where a few things I regulary watched and probably would have get into a tandrum, if I would not have been allowed to watch them. *g*

1. The little vampire. I loved the Tv-serie, I loved the books and I loved to play it with a friend. She played Anna, I played Rüdiger...we even dressed up as Vampires and ran around the streets like that... for getting our faces white we put tons of thick creme on them and make our hair stand up everywhere and had black cloth around our shoulders and feet and so on...

2.D´Artagnan and the tree musketeers, the one where they were drawn as dogs. We played this too and used big pillows for horses to ride one. I played of course D´Artagnan. *g* I also loved the orginal book from Alexandre Dumas, read it several times as a kid.

3. X-Men (the Original), it always came in TV each Saturday at 9 Am. I always met up with three of my cousins and we enjoyed this..20 to 30 minutes so much...and after that we played X-men the whole day long. My older cousin played mostly Gambit, my two younger cousins Cyclops and Storm and I played Wolverine.

We also loved to play Turtles, but am certain we did not watch the cartoon...maybe it was that frst Cinema movie, that got us into it...

Pitty that Star Trek first captured our attention later, when we were teens already, cause by then we were to old for running through the streets all day role playing. But to that time Internet got more popular and we got Internet connections as well...so my one cousin and I just played along as Gul Madred and Gul Damar online.*g* Was fun too.

*L* Sorry, I am in "miss the old times" mood today.

So what did you like to watch as a child?

I grew up when anime became popular on YTV(it's the Canadian version of Cartoon Network).

I'll admit it, the top shows I watched as a child was:

Pokemon
Digimon
Bayblade
Yu-Gi-Oh

The three shows I particularly liked were

1) "The Adventures of Robin Hood" starring Richard Greene as Robin Hood.

2) The Adventures of Superman

This two shows were actually produced before I was born. I was 2 years old when TV started broadcasting in Tasmania (in 1960) so both of these shows were shown during my early childhood.

I was 7 years old when Doctor Who first went to air in Australia in 1965. At first my mother wouldn't let us watch it ubut she relented when the Second Doctor series began. I saw all of the the First Doctor's episodes when they repeated. This means I am one of only a handful of Trekkers that saw the many now missing episodes of Doctor Who.

Doctor Who was by far my favourite TV show during my childhood.

I must have been about 11 or 12 when I started becoming interested in Star Trek (TOS).

Haha, I remember that. The message in the intro is highly dubious for a children's show though.

I also didn't watch much tv when I was a kid (only two channels anyway, and both sucked), but besides the Japanese stuff (Heidi, Perinne, Niklas, etc.) I remember watching Petzi almost every day (I can't find the original on youtube, but this is a funny parody)

I love hearing the foreign versions of openings but I prefer the one I'm used to :p http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3FU4IPgFhg

We had a lot of japanese animes on TV during the 80's (no wonder why Japan is so fashionable now). The 2 I enjoyed the most were The Mysterious Cities of Gold and Saint Seiya (I prefer the Japanese opening).

Do we have to limit it to three? I have a small list, but they weren't necessarily on the air at the same points in time:
Transformers (the original)
Voltron
Thundercats
Scooby Doo
Looney Tunes

I also loved watching Animaniacs, but that was my college years.

We actually didn't have a television between 1979 and 1982, when I was between the ages of 11 and 14. And even when we did have a TV, we didn't have cable, so my cartoon options were quite limited.

So, my favourite cartoons were probably Spider-Man, Rocket Robin Hood, and the Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour.

EDIT: Whoops, top three, eh.... I'll bold the top three of the list:

Batman the Animated Series
Pinky and the Brain
Ducktales
Garfield & Friends
Ren & Stimpy
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the first animated series)
Gummi Bears
Smurfs
Animaniacs
Tiny Toons

I watched all kinds of stuff. A-Team, Transformers, He-Man, Cosby, Dungeons and Dragons, Muppet Babies, Voyagers, Spider-man and his amazing friends, Fraggle Rock, Superfriends, Star Trek and TNG, those were all my faves.

I got into film at an early age (about three) and was already trying to absorb every movie, every genre possible by the time I was about eight or nine.

TV shows though:
-The Real Ghostbusters
-WWF Superstar Challenge (or whatever the hell it was called in the late 80's/early 90's)
-Muppet Babies

We'll reveal a lot about our ages on this one...

Speed Racer. The absolute best thing ever. I couldn't wait for it to come on. The car was so cool. Watching it now, I cringe! But when I was a young boy, Speed was the shit.

Kimba the White Lion: You know, the cartoon Disney copied to make The Lion King?

[yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQsQqOlPjhs[/yt]

Gigantor: Best theme song ever. I really wanted my own robot. Godfather of The Iron Giant.

Once I grew out of cartoons a bit, it was Batman and the Six Million Dollar Man. What kid from my generation didn't run around with a towel tucked into his t-shirt collar saying BAM! ZOOM! POW!?? Or run in slow motion through the neighborhood saying "nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh...."

Ah, TV. Glorious TV.

:techman:

I most liked the programmes with nice little stories.

The Racoons [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOazb-lPKNc[/yt]

Babar [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMtO_oWdnu8[/yt]

Button Moon [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f20BLJGHNXY[/yt]

Button moon was just brilliant.

There are a few other programmes I liked that are worthy of a mention:

Rentaghost http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtheVEW9lZA&feature=related

I watched an insane amount of television as a kid. I think my mother enjoyed the thought of me being segregated in the basement...

The three cartoons that stick out in my mind are The Flintstones, which I watched every school day during lunch, The Bugs Bunny/Roadrunner Show, which aired Saturday mornings, and Scooby Doo, another Saturday morning regular.

I've always been a Hanna-Barbera girl and was never much of a Disney fan. I remember some more obscure H-B cartoons, such as Captain Caveman, Doggie Dinky (?) and Speed Buggy, which I've never seen in reruns.

I spent my earliest years in the Netherlands and I wonder if anyone else reading this thread watched De Fabeltjeskrant, Paulus de Kabouterman, and Stratemaker (sp?) Op Zee. :)

If we're just talking about children's shows, then my favorites were probably:

Tiny Toons
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers

I actually didn't like most children's shows though and went straight to watching adult tv shows with my parents.

Any reason this isn't in TV & Media?

I didn't watch a lot of children's programming when I was a kid. Cartoons sucked, for the most part, although I get a steady diet of shows like Battlestar Galatica, Lost in Space, The Monkees, Emergency, Hogan's Heroes and the like. According to my mother, one of the first songs I learned to sing was the theme to the Mod Squad.

My parents watched lots of British shows, like Dave Allen and The Two Ronnies, as well as M*A*S*H and TOS.

Sure there was lots of Hanna-Barbera and Looney Tunes on TV, and I certainly watched them, but I don't think I ever had a favorite. I do remember, however, on Sunday mornings, running to the TV to catch the Abbott & Costello films. They would come on right after the weekly Shirley Temple movies (which my sister loved, but I hated).

I watched everything when I was a kid. If it was on in the 80's, I watched it. If I have to stick to childrens' shows, i would probably say the top 3 were:

1) The Muppet Show
2) Mysterious Cities of Gold
3) Thundercats

My actual favorites were Remington Steele, Monty Python, and L.A. Law though...

With the exception of Saturday morning cartoons (like Superfriends), everything I watched as a kid, I still watch now. Except for shows such as DS9, Voyager, Lois and Clark among others, that came out when I was in my 20's, and Enterprise, which came out when I was 31.
