What did you see?

It's September 23, 1988.

You just blacked out 2 minutes and saw "something", the time you saw was September 23, 2009 9:37am. (21 years)

What would your younger self have thought about what you saw.
-----------------------------

Even though I'm the one asking, I can't really say what I would have thought. I was in the 8th grade and hadn't even thought of joining the navy yet. Even after getting out, I still work for them and it's been my entire adult life. I would have seen my desk and probably a program we use...maybe me surfing the internet when I should be working. The only things that would have really given any information are; my command ball cap from the last ship I was on, a Certificate for 15 years service to the US Gov't, and my challenge coin collection that I try to get one from every ship I can all on a shelf above my desk. Oh, a couple of individually wrapped cookies with japanese writing on them would have been my only clue I'm in Japan, something I would never have dreamed of at the time.

-------------------------------

Just thought it would be a fun little thought experiment, I used the 21 year timeframe from the book instead of the 6 month one from the series...most people haven't had any major changes in six months. The exact time and date are just random ones I picked.

I was 6 so probabally something like:

"Eh? Wierd. Ooh! Ninja Turtles is on!"

Especially since at 9:37am yesterday I was dead to the world, sleeping all day on my day off. :)

Heh. I would have been three... But remembering what I was like back then (and yes, I remember quite a bit from that age), I probably would have figured out what was going on. I'd be watching myself sitting in Lit Crit, so I really wouldn't know what everyone is talking about, but I'd realize that I'm in school, which three-year-old me would absolutely love.

My younger self would have been 19. And he'd probably come away from the experience extremely depressed if he had a chance to find out anything regarding personal circumstances.

If all he was able to do was just see things, he'd probably first say:

"What a cool-looking Mac".

Followed by

"Holy S**t where's my hair???"

Three-year old me: "I get to sleep past seven? Being twenty-four rules! ...why is there a girl next to me? That's gross."

I would have been one, so I probably wouldn't have understood a bit of it, and would have forgotten it just as quickly.

I was five at that time. After the experience, I probably would've just wondered, "What's the Trek BBS?"

Although, I might have still been in bed. In what time zone would it have been 9:37 am? Whatever one we happened to be in? 'Cause that's not how it worked in the TV show (maybe it was different in the book, I don't know).

Yeah, I know that's not how it worked on the show...or in the book. So yeah, it's whatever timezone you're in.

My four year old self (almost five) wouldn't have seen anything, because I was asleep at 9:37 AM on the 23rd.

I would have seen me, dripping with the cold, stripping paint off an old picture frame back to the veneer. Then sneezing on the Jack Russell. Then starting a really stupidly big medieval tapestry. If you're going to do something stupid, make sure it's monumentally stupid, I say.

I would have seen myself sitting at a desk at a software company, writing programs. I'd be all, "What the hell language is that? I only know BASIC!" But I'd be pretty happy I was programming for a living. Woot woot!

Sadly, the only things I'd have noticed immediately as major differences would be that my monitor is flat and that MS-DOS actually went away.

Being self-obsessed, I might have been surprised that I'm in better physical shape than I recall being in 1988.

"Aw, wtf? Why am I still at school? How many classes did I repeat??? Hey, wait a minute! I am the teacher?????" :wtf:

And then zap back...

 I should have thought of those, too. "There's a Windows 'XP' now? What happened to the numbers? And what the hell is this 'Internet' thing?"

1988? I would be 5 years old. Kindergarten. I probably would be too freaked out to notice much of anything.
