What did you do this week to make your life better?

I finally took my Double Bass to get repaired on Sunday. I want to get back into playing with small groups.

Interesting thread.

So...what have you done this week to make yourself more awesome?

Met up with some friends I hadn't seen all together for many years.

What do you plan to do next week?

Finally get round to getting an extractor fan and a halogen light fixed. I wouldn't say they've been bust as long as it was since I last saw the friends I mentioned, but man, it has to be close...

Made the choice to final for Chapter 7.

We tried work out settlement offers, but there's just no way we can work with these people when they're on the phone saying "We'll settle" while they're taking to court at the same time.

And "payment protection" or "loss of income" payment "insurance" = Biggest scam ever and is what put us in this situation.

Joined the Facebook group. :)

I'm flying to Toronto with two of my kids in August, and my goal is that I won't have to widen the seatbelt strap. I'm obese and in danger of developing Type 2 diabetes, which is not good. I joined Weight Watchers online because the groups bug me (too happy-clappy) and while it will take more than a year to lose all the weight I should at the very least I want to reach a size by next summer where I won't have to lengthen the seatbelt to an alarming length.

Oooh, how come? Gonna be a trucker?

I started driving a truck for a local florist when I moved back to Phoenix to help with my Dad in 2003 and decided to stay on with it when I started working on my library technology certificate. When the bottom fell out of that job market, I stayed with the florist.

I decided I liked what I was doing, but the company I work for is to small to really pay a good wage. In looking, almost every company I looked at requires a CDL. Really took a good look at the company that operates the local transit buses as I used to have a friend that worked for them and while the pay is shit the first year or two, by year five it's incredibly good. Since I like both driving and dealing with people, that seems like a natural fit to me. Even if I don't get on with them, there are plenty of local jobs here that are hiring and require the CDL, so I figure that I can get on with one of the other companies I've looked at and liked (Coca-Cola, Pepsi, a few local foodservice firms, local companies with their own distribution centers, etc).

Another plus to the way I've done this is that the school that I went through for the training offers lifetime job placement assistance.

Yeah, I have noticed a TON of places hiring truck drivers, all requiring a CDL. I've actually considered trying to get mine, just for the hell of it.
