What did you do this week to make your life better?

I'm on a big motivational life coach thing right now. I've basically grown tired of living in mediocrity, and I'm tired of seeing my friends struggling with life or just going through the motions every day. At times, it feels like a lot of them have given up or simply don't know what to do to make their situations better. It bothers me because I know the kind of people they are, and I know that they're capable of being awesome.

As part of my personal "campaign of awesome," I am trying to be the most positive, supportive, and optimistic person I can be. We can't improve our lives without putting in a little effort, and I want people to feel accountable for themselves.

So...what have you done this week to make yourself more awesome? What do you plan to do next week?

I started teaching myself Bengali. It's something I've wanted to do for a long time, and it will take a long time, but I figured I might as well start!

Awesome! You'll never learn it if you don't actually start, ya know, learning it.

So...I decided that I liked the way that "Campaign of Awesome" sounded, so I made a Facebook page for it.

You should all "Like" it and spread the awesomeness all over the world!

Well, I understand it pretty well when it's spoken, so I have a good head start. Also you reminded me of something else I did to make my life better. I deleted my Facebook account (as opposed to deactivating it).

If it counts - son and I have been working on putting in low maintainence garden. It is hard work with my son doing the heavier stuff and me doing as much as I physically can. I am looking forward to the time when I can just relax in the garden rather than working in the garden.

Next summer I plan to spend my time lounging around on a hammock.

I scored two free computer monitors just by asking for them (which I was incredibly nervous to do)! So not only did I face my social anxiety head on, but I am now rocking a dual monitor set-up for the first time! And they match!

WHAAAAATTTT?!?!?!

Huzzah!

Anyway, I realized that I never answered my own question. Things I did this week to be more awesome:

1) Interviewed for a new bartending job (part-time, in addition to my day job). I need mo' money!

2) Applied for a job at a brewery that is opening a new location and needs a manager to run the bar. This would seriously be my ideal job, and the new location is a 5-minute walk from my house!

Next week...

I'm going to attempt to start doing CrossFit! I workout all the time already, but I really want to try this out.

I applied for jobs. I had a wonderful interview at a hospital in my area for a research job that would be awesome. They liked that I just got a degree in education on top of my biology degree that I had for nearly ten years. I'm applying for teaching jobs in Philadelphia and Alabama.

It might appear to be a very, very small thing, but someone asked me for a committment to do something at work. I considered and declined. Usually I just let people dump all manner of crap on me. That might seem a small thing to some but it was pretty major for me. :)

Positive? Supportive? Optimistic? Sheesh. Those are three words that could not be used to describe me. Maybe I should try?

No... no... that wouldn't be fun at all.

I did do something this week. I booked a trip to Las Vegas for a friend and I. She hasn't had a vacation (other than family car trips to visit more family) in years. She's never been to Vegas. And we have a mutual friend who lives out there who we can hang out with. She doesn't have a lot of money so I'm paying for the majority of the hotel. I figure it's still cheaper for me, because if I went to Vegas solo than I'd be paying for everything on my own.

You shouldn't have done that. Now Facebook is going to delete you, too.

I stayed on my Paleo diet (and lost 3 pounds since last Jan 1!) and got up early on Saturday morning and wrote a page of my book. The one that I have been planning for the past year.

Trying to eat in more, eat out less, eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, and drink more water. Dropped a couple of pounds. I also made it to the gym once, after a hiatus of like three months.

Have plans to do more packing (would like to have another few boxes packed), and hope to finish an unit I'm working on at the moment for my course. Plus clean out my wardrobe too. Getting rid of things I just don't use anymore.

Well i did hang out with some friends. That made my weekend better. More short term, I guess. Oh i did get on USC's ass about an appointment my dad needs, and that's gonna happen on Monday. So, i helped to make my dad's life more awesome. And that will continue to ensure my life is awesome.
