What did William Shatner hair look like 1970-1971?

Wow, These are great pictures of Shatner---thanks for posting them.:)

I was partially wrong. For some strange reason, the Shatner pics linked by ItsGreen don't show up in Google Chrome. They work fine in Firefox, though. :)

Good pics, really bad rugs (I'll give him a pass on that '74 pic, since it's pretty clearly him acting, probably an episode of "Barbary Coast" since his character was supposed to be a master of disguise).

Some conspiracy theories are pointless and illinformed, like Kennedy assassination theories, or malicious and borderline treasonous, like the 9/11 Truther morons, whle some are just silly and fun to play around with, like whether Elvis is still alive, whether we have captured flying saucers at Groom Lake, and the nature of Shatner's hairpieces over the years.

To my knowledge, its the only pic sans-rug I've ever seen of Shatner.

He removed his hairpiece for the final "Deadly Years" transformation; you'll see his natural hairline. It seemed silly for Fred Phillips to cover Shatner's own hair (and hairpiece) with a baldcap and a wig, so Shatner just whipped it off.

Mmmm, I see this has been discussed. I did once read an interview with Fred Phillips where he said that Shatner removed it. I've tried to find it again, without luck. I'm sure it was one of those old newsprint prozines, such as an issue of "All About Star Trek Fan Clubs".

Looking at the screencaps, it looks like the middle stage was sans toupee, and then the final stage had a white hairpiece glued on top.

I think he had hairpieces throughout that episode, just different ones than the one he normally wore. The middle stage, though, was probably the closest to his own natural state, just a bit more there in order to justify the amount of hair he had at the oldest point.

Back then many actors wore hair pieces so that they would look a certain way under the harsh sound stage lights. Natural hair would look too thin. I think even Deforest wore one for TOS.
It was common place in those days, if you were an actor; you wore wigs.
