What Changes Would You Like To See In Conscience of the King

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See In Conscience of the

It's a double red alert man! I'd take that seriously, especially with the "there's a phaser overloading" part added. :D

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See In Conscience of the

"All this power, surging and throbbing, yet under control. Are you like that, Captain?"

They weren't very subtle back in the day, were they?

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See In Conscience of the

I would have like to seen them digitally edit out the developing cold sore on Kirks Love interest in this one. It seems to get worse as the episode goes on with the director using more and more extravagant lighting techniques and messy peices of hair to cover up. But if you look on her upper lip on her right side or our left side you can see it towards the end of the epi...

Wouldja believe I actually know someone who had Arnold Moss for an acting teacher?

Gives ya pause, doesn't it?

The ship is certainly not at warp in orbit, haha. Moreover one of the things that has always bugged me is the stars moving way way to fast even when the ship is at warp. Those star in the orbit shot were once again moving way to fast for orbit, but I'm willing to put up with it as it looks cooler than real life.

One thing that did bug me was that the windows shown from the observation deck are not on the studio model, and way to small in comparison to the windows shown on the ship.

Not sure that is really fixable, and in the end I really like the R versions.

I just saw an old noir, Border Incident, with Moss as a Mexican. It took a moment to recognize him. In addition to the accent, his whole demeanour and posture were different...a good actor.

I just watched this one. Did anyone else notice the original theme music was played over the opening credit instead of the rerecording? I prefer the original anyway.

Didn't notice.

Maybe Okuda's remastering team accidentally spliced in the original theme music and hadn't been paying attention to all of their sound files.

I'd like to see Kirk adjust his pants when the chick starts talking about the 'throbbing power' of Enterprise in that come-with-me-to-the-zero-G-gymnasium voice. :D

They could always start playing cheesy synthesizer porno music when Lenore says that to Kirk.

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See In Conscience of the

The funny thing about watching the second half of this episode (having missed the first half) is the proliferation of the remastered series. I'm already watching it from the Bellingham KVOS feed!

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See In Conscience of the

Another funny thing is that the name Astral Queen was reused for nuBSG - as the *prison ship*.

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See In Conscience of the

In which case maybe the prison ship should have been called Asshole King.

what exactly happens differently in a 'double red alert'?

It's like regular red alert only everyone runs very, very fast while the camera focused on the red alert light zooms in and out very quickly. There's also the seldom-used "Double-Secret Red Alert" where the ranking officers evacuate the ship very, very quietly.

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See In Conscience of the

And don't even ASK about the almost-never-employed "Secret Handshake Red Alert."

All I'm at liberty to say is that a lot of whiplash and groin pull is involved.

Kirk farts

I finally got around to watch this one, and I noticed something interesting for the first time. In the scene where Kirk tells Spock to change course, Kirk farts when he sits in the command chair. It comes in the middle of his speech: "If my memory needs refreshing Mr. Spock I'll ask you for it, in the meantime <fart> follow my orders". The noise is probably from the chair, but I like to think the good Captain let one go.

Yeah, I totally forgot about that odd sound he makes in that scene. Thanks for the reminder. Maybe Shatner had mild gas that day and the editors didn't notice the sound when they prepped the episode for NBC?

Re: Kirk farts

Not like they could do much to this one. "King" is a lot like "Wolf in the Fold." Almost entirely character-driven and heavily dependent on mood.
