Re: What Changes Would You Like To See For This Side of Para
I just watched this. There are some absolutely glorious renders of the planet from orbit. The model of the Enterprise has also never looked better. I think I saw some perspectives unique to this episode but I could well be wrong. Otherwise, everything else looked the same.
And that is a good thing. I had forgotten is how outstanding D.C. Fontana's script was. This episode won't make many people's Top Ten Star Trek episodes list but it ought to. Maybe it's the threadbare premise that makes it seem unexceptional - it is a pretty standard retelling of the Garden of Eden story with the apple now good instead of bad - but Fontana's use of the English language elevates it to a top tier episode in my book. From Kirk's abusive tirade against Spock to Leyla's own transformation away from the spores, the writing is superb. Kudos to D.C. Fontana for single handily making this a great Star Trek episode.
