Who knows. I'm not a tech guy in-the-know myself but I guess with the time restrictions on getting episodes done by a certain date for air and then DVD I suppose there just wasn't enough time available to change everything that they perhaps wanted to.

They've done it before. EXAMPLE: this scene in "Wink of an Eye" would have required they remove the old effects, right?

Even more proof dropping in a new, static and motionless star map wouldn't have been too difficult. This one redone shot from "Wink" is infinitely more sophisticated than redoing a computer databank star map would have been. Oh well. I guess the Remastering team has its reasons.
