What Changes Would You Have For "Operation: Annihilate!"?

AC84

Those of you who bought the first season of Trek Remastered probably already know what was changed. My condolences on you wasting your money on the now-dead HD DVD format. :p

Others have probably already seen the new footage for this episode, including the infamous deployment of the satellites. What did you like? What didn't you like? But more importantly, what would you have changed or altered? Me, I'd maybe add in a few CGI puppet master aliens here and there just for the sake of coolness. Remeber, these new special effects are for a new, younger audience. A little pandering doesn't hurt. I'd also try to make the colony look a little more futuristic by adding in one or two creative CGI buildings in the background. Again, this is purely for the sake of pandering. I'm actually fine with the way the colony looks. The buildings are timeless. The only thing I never liked were the giant playground props that were either suppose to be public town art or actual futuristic technology.

If the flying barf creatures left a trail of green ecto-plasm as they buzzed about, that would be hella cool. :)

Add a "With apologies to Robert Heinlein" bit on the end credits.

Frame the whole episode from the scene in Star Trek V where Kirk says "I lost a brother once...". Sure this will mean having to cut some of the episode's original content for time, but using movie footage in the remastered series will be kewl.

Re: What Changes Would You Have For "Operation: Annihilate!"

Nasty-looking tentacles and maws on the flying parasites.

Re: What Changes Would You Have For "Operation: Annihilate!"

Edit in the blooper where the rubber vomit monster hits Nimoy in the ass.

Re: What Changes Would You Have For "Operation: Annihilate!"

Does the footage exist with Kirk's nephew on the Bridge? By this I mean, moving footage, not just the still. While it would upset some, if I could, I'd use that and cut out the 'Vulcan Ears' business. I think a kid getting to sit in that chair after a huge tragic loss is a bittersweet moment that works better than a dumb ethnic joke.

I think it'd be a good idea to remove the scene where Kirk makes love to the alien barf creature.

Ick.

Joe, icked

Put in a new actor to play the dead "Sam" Kirk.

Shatner wearing a cheesy mustache just didn't cut it for me; Shat looked like an actor from a 1970's porn film with that mustache.

Howzabout Mike Farrell? ;)

Poor Wayne Rogers. Will he ever get a break? :)
Don't feel too bad for Wayne Rogers...He does quite well these days as an venture capitalist and investor. I've seen him on Financial news investment shows as a panelist on those "round table financial discussions" and he is considered an expert when it comes to investments.

It seems he has his hands too full with his investment business to worry about acting anymore.

If that's true, maybe the flying rubber vomit parasites were actually made of ANOTHER gooey and gelatinous substance.

Suicide is painless...

But not blue chip stock investments, apparently.
