What book are you currently reading?

Midway through Carte Blanche by Jeffrey Deaver. I can't remember if I commented on this book in this thread or another one, but I'm enjoying it a lot more than the Sebastian Faulks Bond novel of a few years ago.

I'm reading Side Jobs: Stories From the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher and Dragon Keeper by Robin Hobb.

Side Jobs is very good so far! Its a collected of short stories/novellas based in the Dresden universe. I'm a huge fan of the Dresden Files book series and these stories are really fun. My favorite, so far, is Its My Birthday Too. I'm on the story after that, Heroet, right now. Can't wait to read Aftermath, the story that takes place after Changes & before the next novel, Ghost Story (which I have pre-ordered already & can't wait to read!)

As for Dragon Keeper, I'm slowly reading it. It hasn't caught my attention as much as Side Jobs. It seems OK so far. Hopefully it'll get better. I really enjoyed Hobb's Liveship books and this set in the same universe/area as those.

I'm guessing I'll be reading Ghost Story after these & after that hopefully I'll want to read Dragon Haven by Robin Hobb.

I just finished Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th by Peter M. Bracke, which I would highly recommend to anyone who is interested in that particular movie franchise. I'm now reading Ancient Egypt 39,000 BCE: The History, Technology, and Philosophy of Civilization X by Edward F. Malkowski.

Going to finish the epilogue of A Storm Of Swords and move onto A Feast For Crows tonight.

I was reading David Brock's tell-all but I couldn't get through it. Well written. It's just I couldn't stomach this Conservative in the closet character assassinating Bill Clinton.

Right now I am doing some work for School. This includes Winning Friends and Influencing People. I have Jung's psychology and its Social Meaning on request from the library.

Omega by Jack McDevitt... about halfway done. So far, it's on par with Engines of God, better than Chindi, but nowhere near the awesomeness that was Deepsix.

Just done reading "The God Delusion " By my idol Richard Dawkings

I am Now a strong Believer in Atheism lol :)

I am rereading Pride and Prejudice for like the 5th time. After I finish the book, I will watch the 1995 BBC version with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth. Then maybe the Keira Knightly version or Greer Garson's.

The Museum of Innocence by Orhan Pamuk

Pamuk's first book since winning the Nobel in 2005; I imagine that puts a special pressure on any writer. My Name Is Red was one of my favourite novels of recent years, and while this isn't in that league, it's still a good read (you can see a lot of the same themes at work here, pertaining to interactions between Turkish society and Western ideas of modernity). One of the quotes describes it as a study of romantic love similar to "Madame Bovary, Lolita, and Anna Karenina", which obviously sets certain expectations. Pamuk again makes use of metatextuality, to an even greater extent than the previous one, though I didn't find it quite as clever.

Next up: The Invisible Man by H. G. Wells
