What becomes of the a-quadrant when the Borg arrive?

In the 10 years from 2365 upto 2375, humanity encountered both the Borg and the Dominion; two vast empires, very different from one another, but equally determined to reign supreme in the alpha quadrant.

Given these new threats, what do we expect might happen in the 25 years after Voyager returns home, upto 2400?

As the Borg continue pushing their territorial borders down into the beta quadrant, the first great empire they'll encounter will be the Romulan Star Empire.

Throughout the 24th century, the Romulans have kept a very low profile, and nobody really knows what they've been up to. Would they be prepared with new technologies? Would their skill with artificial singularities be an advantage to them, to use as a weapon capable of sucking whole ships into oblivion? Would they be more likely to ask for help or try to deal with the Borg by themselves?

Would humanity or the Klingons try to forge an alliance with Romulus? Would the Vulcans willingly step into the firing line to defend their sibling race? Would the Romulans need to be destroyed before it motivated humanity and the Klingons to truely unite, from witnessing the gravity of their situation.

What of the Cardassians, and the Breen? They'd be at the far side of the action, so they might not feel threatened, or would they?

And what would the all-seeing-eyes of the Dominion make of the Borg invasion? Would they sit and watch? Remember that assimilation does not eliminate solids, it only arms them. So would they just sit and watch?

If Federation space became overrun with Borg, what would become of the wormhole? Would it be controlled by the Borg, the Dominion or the Federation? Or would it be destroyed? Could the wormhole aliens/Pah-Wraiths have any influence?

Could the Borg make it through and try to assimilate the Founders? What would happen to the Founders' homeworld if Borg nanoprobes got into their Great Lake? Afterall, a few volts of electricity were enough to torture a baby changeling into changing shape. Could nanoprobes use this electric-shock-therapy to force their assimilation, perhaps to alter Founder psychology into submission, to counteract them changing shape to expel the nanoprobes?

Might we see Borg-changelings as emergent beings? What would they be like, and what would their philosophy and alliegences be?

Let's imagine what might become of our part of the galaxy. What is created and destroyed, and how political relations might change.

Well Janeway caused significant damage to the Borg and we dont know the extent of that damage so even if they did survive there's a good chance they've suffered significant ship, drone and planetary losses but even so its safe to say a full Borg invasion would wipe the floor with any other power such as the Federation unless the Feds can use the future weapons and armour tech brought back by Voyager.
However, here's my take on their come back. ;)

Any Borg collective attempting to rebuild itself will likely stick with assimilating its local area civilisations until it's capability has been restored to full potential, its possible also it might venture out and assimilate species it knows might have significant technology that could refortify itself such as the Dominion with it's cloning technology.

Considering that janeway gave the borg queen a plague and killed her and everybody connected to her... but to quote the borg queen... one cube/sphere and janeway destroyed that from the inside out... I doubt there are any left to worry about.

Well let's pretend they're not hurt as bad as we were led to believe. That they've got over the virus, and compensated for their losses. Let's suppose they do advance towards the Romulan Star Empire in the 2390s.

Now speculate :)

OK, the Borg launch a fleet of 100 cubes at Romulus, within minutes the Romulan fleet is decimated and Romulus and Remus assimilated, within mere hours the Borg send out cubes to outlying colonys and the Romulan Empire is now Borg space. Within a few more hours the Borg could pretty much take out Earth, Quo'nos and any other homeworld that they please.

With the Borg stuck in the Delta Quadrant with their resources focusing on assimilating Delta Quadrant races the Alpha Quadrant is safe, as soon as Borg space pushes it's way to Romulus the Alpha Quadrant is screwed.

The whole reason the Borg only sent 1 cube against Earth is probably because they thought one would be enough and they were too busy fighting other species with better weapons, we know they had to fight species 8472 and we know that Arcturus's people were able to keep the Borg at bay for quite some time so the Borg are probably too busy, once they've got to Romulus they can focus their entire fleet of cubes against the Alpha Quadrant superpowers.

If the Borg are systematic in their approach then that's why they keep their fleet in the Delta Quadrant and assimilate outwards in an expanding sphere like fashion only sending the odd cube out to other Quadrants to keep an eye on other species to make sure they know what to expect when they finally reach there.

I did a comprehensive outline of a future series where the Borg invade the Alpha Quadrant in force and are eventually driven back to the Delta Quadrant after several seasons of fighting.

Where upon a massive combined forced of Alpha Quadrant invades the Delta Quadrant to finish them off.

The climatic battle of the Borg invasion is in Earth orbit when 113 Borg ships of all types are engaged and eventually routed by 468 Starfleet ships.

The key was that Starfleet showed little resistance and allowed the Borg to get to within transporter range of Earth.

The Borg were allowed to transport some 6 million Borg drones to the surface. At this point Starfleet attacked.

With such a vast number of their individual drones stranded on the Earths surface (Earths planetary shields were raised after transport) and with the drones being engaged by the surface military forces of Starfleet and every nation on Earth, the Borg ships in orbit were not able to regenerate themselves nearly as well after taking battle damage.

Plus, several Borg ships were taken by thousands of Starfleet security personnel in boarding operations and turned against the other Borg vessels.

Why not introduce a virtual reality program into the Borg hive mind? Let them *think* they've taken over the universe, while in reality they do not much of anything.

The Federation wins and the status quo is maintained with a few new labels. Welcome to "Star Trek."

Not exactly.

In my version, the Klingon Empire, Romulan Empire, Cardassian Union, and Ferengi Alliance, Tholians, Breen, Telarians, Children of Tamar are all effectively destroyed when their homeworlds are overrun by the Borg.

The Husnok make a comeback of sorts though.

OMG! I like it, no let me rephrase that, I LOVE it!! What a perfect way to end the Borg!

My idea of their comeback (posted in my thread) and your idea for there next demise put together would make one hell of a series! :):):)
