Spoilers What are your unpopular Sci-Fi & Fantasy Opinions?

I like all the movies in the (proper) Alien franchise. A3, Prometheus, and Covenant were all great.

There isn't much in the world I give less of a shit about than the MCU
...except maybe the LotR movies.

"The Predator" was a ton of fun

"Oblivion" was a great sci-fi movie, both plot-wise and visually

"Rogue One" was the worst movie in the SW franchise, and it's not even close for me.

"Beyond Thunderdome" is a great Mad Max movie (additionally- the first Mad Max is the least-interesting franchise film)

"Crystal Skull" was a perfectly fine Indiana Jones movie, and lightyears better than "Temple of Doom."

"Nemesis" is far more rewatchabke than most of the TNG films, and I'm fine with dune buggys and Data's death.

Agreed on all of these.

Yes, Christopher Reeve was a perfect Superman. But, as a standalone story with a beginning, middle, and end, Smallville's "Pilot" is better than any Superman film. What's more, Thor is more likable and hopeful than Snyder's Superman, and every film featuring Thor is better than every film featuring Superman.

... What, even Age of Ultron and Doctor Strange?

... Yes, them, too.

:p

The Marc Webb/Andrew Garfield Spiderman movies were a complete mess. Well, they had glimmers of what could have been great, but to me they don't nearly spend enough time on character development, especially the second movie which is all over the place and full of nauseating camera angles. Sometimes less is more!

I've seen quite a few other people say that, so I'm not sure if it really qualifies as an unpopular opinion.
EDIT: I thought of another opinion that I recently discovered is apparently unpopular, I enjoyed Season 11 of Doctor Who. It definitely wasn't one of my favorites, but I liked it a lot more than other people seem to have.

Disney's"Frozen" kinda sucks.

Frozen is nothing but a 90 minute music video for a cheesy pop song that by itself is overrated.

I like the SW Special Editions.

Also I never really cared for nuBSG. I prefer the original. (I'm not one of those GINO types, though. )

I like the Special Editions as well. i particularly enjoy the dance number in Jabba's palace! So exiting and weird and alien!

"Beyond Thunderdome" is a great Mad Max movie (additionally- the first Mad Max is the least-interesting franchise film)

It's the only Mad Max movie I like and it's pretty much my favourite Post Apocalyptic movie. Though it does seem kinda like two unrelated movies mashed together.

The only modern Star Wars movie I like is Solo. I could have watched a whole trilogy of that.

Was the Trek there a typo, or are you trying to say something about the two franchises?

Was a typo. I don't like any of the Star Trek movies. At least not as movies. A couple of them are decent as "long episodes"

The 1980's Buck Rogers TV series is not good. Not all all. In no way. Not even in a "campy" or "so bad it's good" sort of way. An insult to good science fiction, and likely lowers your IQ just by watching it. Makes the original Battlestar Galactica look like high art in comparison.

Predator 2 is a better movie than Predator. It has a better cast with more fleshed out characters (even if Bill Paxton is playing a variation on Hudson from 'Aliens'.)
It is conceivable that Danny Glover might lose to the Predator; whereas with Arnold you know that's not the case.

Also, for all his bluster and bullying, Captain Rhodes in 'Day of the Dead' is essentially right. It is his men that have to risk their lives in order to corral the zombies in the pen for the scientists to study; while the scientists, in their time in the mine/bunker have accomplished next to nothing. Teaching one zombie how to listen to music, pick up a telephone receiver, etc is not going to solve the problem. There's no way to know is the results can be duplicated on a larger scale with the limited supplies they have. If Dr. Logan had been more forthcoming in that he was experimenting on and feeding 'Bub' and the othet zombies the remains of Rhodes fellow soldiers because of their lack of supplies, things might not have gone as bad as they did.
