Your poll doesn't ask for "Chief" Security Officer.
"What are your top 4 live action security officers from among this list?"
Yes. I am aware. I chose to include only "Chief" security officers none the less. If I had chosen to include all security officers (including those who appeared in only one episode) the list would be pretty substantial.

Tasha is my favorite as a character, but in terms of competence, Nhan and maybe Chekov are the only ones who aren't terrible at their jobs.
  1. Pavel Chekov: He was cute, but you're telling me that dweeb was in charge of Security? I thought he was a copilot or ops? It almost feels like he did every job except security.
  2. Tasha Yar: she specialized in 6th grade stage combat, losing her temper at Q, and got killed by a puddle of chocolate syrup. I love her spunk, but I won't pretend she has a great winning streak.
  3. Worf: What did this big oaf ever do besides the first person to get dramatically tossed aside by every single threatening alien, and grunt irritably that every new plotline might be a security threat? I don't remember Worf ever preventing any security threat. Troi was literally more useful for security, because at least she kept note of suspicious feelings she sensed from visitors.
  4. Odo: sweet f*ck don't get me started on this treacherous idiot. During a crucial moment in the Dominion War, when all his friends were relying on him, when the space station he swore to protect was in danger, when the fate of the galaxy hung by a thread, all he had to do was keep his jello-dick in his pants for 30 minutes. And what does he do? Himself-with-tits. No wonder Starfleet Intelligence thought O'Brien would make a better undercover cop.
  5. Tuvok: said his security code "Tuvok pi alpha" out loud enough times for one to memorize it. Also did unauthorized mind-melds with psychos, and went crazy at minimum once per season.
  6. Malcom Reed: He...talked Britishly and held a big gun now and then. Maybe he did a decent job, idk.
  7. Ash Tyler: He wasn't even a character, just a walking angst fetish.
  8. Nhan: The first security chief in a long while to have a clean record. Kept her cool, didn't perform any unauthorized mind-melds, didn't suffer any embarrassing defeats, actually seems kind if competent.

Odo - was VERY good at his job and didn't take any crap. Also loved his interactions with Quark and his insights on humanity
Tuvok - Good at his job, pretty snarky and also loved his interactions with Neelix
Nhan - A badass
Worf - Pretty crappy at his job, actually  But I also loved his observations on humanity (although some of the Klingon episodes could get tedious)

I'd like to cast a vote but I feel I really can't, not having seen anything of Tyler and Nhan (disadvantaging them if I were to vote).
