TNG
DS9
Enterprise

If Prodigy continues going on the course its on, I think it could take out Enterprise for the third spot. I really liked all the episodes of Prodigy except for one, and I'm looking forward to it's return.

Lower Decks
Voyager
The Original Series

Just a quick thought I wanted to share. I absolutely cannot get enough of Lower Decks. I think its self-awareness and love of the Star Trek universe truly shows what it is that makes Trek so special.

I feel like I can't really rank the Kurtzman era of Trek yet, because I've had these emotional relationship with TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, and ENT that have lasted twenty to thirty years, but I've only had four years or so for this new era of Trek. I suppose I would rank the older stuff amongst themselves and the newer stuff amongst themselves, and then revisit them all after I've had more time to absorb the new era in a few years' time.

Of the old era, I'd rank them:

1. DS9
2. TNG
3. TOS
4. ENT
5. VOY

Of the new era, I'd rank them:

1. PIC
2. LD
3. DIS
4. PRO

With the caveat that I really enjoy all the new stuff, and that ranking DIS vs. LD is actually pretty hard for me.

1. TNG
2. TNG
3. TNG

No, but really, aside TNG it's hard to say which are my #2 and #3 favourites. The candidates would be DS9, VOY, TOS and PIC.

DS9 had some great episodes (and some terrible ones) and some great characters (especially side/recurring characters), but also an undercurrent running through the series I'm not fond of. All the prophet/pah-wraith stuff, really, it was manichean, dumb and cheap.

VOY is often derided as "TNG-light", and it's partly true, but I think it had its own flavour as well. Often had great premises, but the execution did not always do them service. Whereas the characters were the strength of DS9, it's the weakness of VOY. A few standouts (The Doctor in early seasons, 7, Tuvok), but most are either bland (Kim, Chakotay) or annoying (Neelix, Paris, Torres, The Doctor in latter seasons).

As I've said many times before, TOS had a certain undefinable charm, but it was quite rough around the edges, and didn't age as well as the rest (of course, it's older, so it makes sense that it's showing its age more).
I enjoyed TOS a lot more as a teen than I did in a recent rewatch. Some great episodes, undeniably, but a lot of very silly ones.

PIC continues the TNG story, but has huge flaws. It's telling that the best episode is the one where Troi and Riker appear. Too early to have a definitive opinion, I'd say. Hoping for better writing in S2. Especially the villains. Hell, villains aren't even necessary. antagonists don't have to be villainous. Some of the best in Trek aren't: Maddox, the misguided Mintakans, the Tamarian captain, ...

So yeah, they all have their pros and cons, and I can never decide which is second-best overall. TNG is the best by far, DSC is the worst by even farther, ENT is probably the second-worst but aside from that, it's all on an episode by episode basis.

(caveat: I haven't seen PRO, the current season of DSC, and I'm still going through TAS)

I voted...
TNG
DS9
PIC
...but It should probably be...
TNG
TOS
DS9
...if I think hard enough about it, and include the movies.

My favorite series is TNG, and it ended with "All Good Things..." The TNG movies are all problematic for various reasons, and NEM is my least favorite movie in all Trek, in part for its artistic failings and in part the circumstances how and when it came out.

PIC is also not TNG, but it's No.3 here because of what a miracle it is to exist. I've said it before, but this series should. not. exist. It's an afternoon daydream come true. Patrick Stewart...who left Star Trek decades ago and found both artistic and commercial success in both theater and film...who pulled off a Harrison Ford and became both Indiana Jones and Han Solo...is back in Star Trek...as Jean-Luc Picard...in more than a cameo role...but as the lead of a series called PICARD??? This is a man who, in the twilight of his life (seriously, when time is dwindling and precious) was very happily doing other things, including trying to become an American citizen just so that he could vote against Trump. And he was in-part coaxed back by the producers saying that the world would benefit from seeing leaders like Jean-Luc Picard again, like Christopher Pike... I mean, it's like Kirk in the Nexus abandoning paradise for others in a Once and Future King scenario. The whole thing is damn near fantastical.

So, for now (also coming off of getting into reading Treklit again having just finished PIC: Last Best Hope and awaiting PIC: Dark Veil) PIC is for the moment No.3 on my lists, regardless how different it is from hopeful, proud, different, lightning-in-a-bottle, TNG.
