Well, if someone thinks that Short Treks is really, seriously, one of the three best series, they probably don't like Star Trek very much.

The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine are obvious and easy votes. The third vote is where it gets challenging.

I've never been a particular fan of TOS. Voyager has some good episodes and good characters, but a lot of dross. Ditto Enterprise.

Discovery is not for me. I've given it three seasons and tried my best but it's still Star Trek by people who don't get Star Trek for people who don't like Star Trek in my opinion. It's basically the Abramsverse in all but name, lots of CGI and noise but not much heart and soul.

Lower Decks is great fun, though season two felt a bit flat after season one, so it just misses out here. And I love Picard. Sorry, I know it gets at least as much hate as Discovery and for broadly similar reasons, but I do. I'm going to give it my third vote, for the very simple reason that Patrick Stewart can add class and gravitas to anything, and the guest appearances of Riker, Troi, and Data in season one made me cry. Out of all the Treks currently in production it's the one whose next series I'm most looking forward to.

I cannot fathom how anyone could put TAS over any of the live action series.

Nor Lower Decks for that matter.
With Lower Decks, its about the writing, not whether if the show is live action or animated.

With TAS by itself and not grouped with TOS, IDK. Maybe its the novelty behind it?

TNG, DS9, and VOY. Featuring the Bald Brit, Captain Hawk, and the Chuck Norris of Star Trek.

My post was poorly worded.

I meant to say that I can’t imagine someone liking TAS more than Lower Decks (which is a fine show, IMHO).

But, to each his/her own. Just because I don’t understand it doesn’t make it “wrong”.

To quote @1001001 – "just because I don't understand it doesn't make it wrong". It's my opinion. You and many others will differ.
Right so, I don't have a problem that you don't like DSC. That's fine, that's your business.

But "People who like Discovery don't like Star Trek"? That's the thing I take issue with. I've been a fan for 31 years. And I don't appreciate being told by people (in general, not you in particular), that somehow I all of a sudden don't like Star Trek because I'm a Disco Fan. I was a fan for a whole 27 years before Discovery even premiered.

I didn't like VOY or ENT and not once did I ever tell fans of those shows, "These shows are made for people who hate Star Trek!" thus implying that they somehow didn't like Star Trek.

It's not the type of thing that someone, as a fan, wants to be on the other side of hearing. And it's not something a fan is going to understand until it applies to them. One day you'll like something you're not "supposed to" like and then BAM! Just like that, you'll know what I'm talking about.
