What are your gaming pet peeves?

I remember when Napster was a thing. Since the songs were just 1's and 0's, they should belong to everybody. Problem is, that mentality bankrupts most artists.

What kind of system do we have when you buy something like a console and someone forbids you to mod it or fix it? If only governments could put an end to that kind of thing and have ownership be ownership by law

I am convinced that the FIFA games randomly vary their difficulty, regardless of settings. Even with a great squad, and plenty of experience playing the games, I will find a superb midfielder misplacing a pass just because, which sets up a chance for the opposing side. It grinds my gears!

What I love about Mario Kart games online is also what I sometimes loathe: the chaos. Skill at racing is less important than the items you get at any given time.

Not really a peeve, but some unrealistic game mechanics.

One moment your character is doing fine, performing the most astonishing acrobatics, even when you've only got 1 HP left, only to be dead the next moment upon receiving a minor pinprick.
Ah, this:

Showstopper bugs that are still in game months after release. Just encountered one while playing Dreamlight Valley the other night with Aladdin's final quest. None of what the quests needs you to do have ever been this problematic for me. Crafting a market stall and creating a market area like he asks players to do shouldn't be a difficult thing as it's part of the gameplay loop at this point, but for some reason, the game is not recognizing that I've put the some of the items down, therefore I can't complete the quest. So annoying! And if I google to try and find info, it all leads to a different earlier part of the quest that others are having issues with, but not this particular bug.

Other people, gamers

Now before you all jump on me why, because not everyone likes the same things.

I hate when you buy a game that is popular and then find later on only after purchase that you yourself don't like it and can't get into it other people tell you it's a you thing and that's your problem because the game is super popular and getting high review scores somehow people not liking it or enjoying it are the problem. I hate that kind of mentality.

Different games for different people. You shouldn't feel pressured into liking something just because something is popular. I've bounced off plenty of popular games, ie I've never felt like the Dragon Age series was to my liking, and I've enjoyed plenty of unpopular games.

Can relate there. Ran into a loop like that in Lufia the Ruins of Lore. Couldn't get past a certain point of the game, no matter what I tried. The game would just freeze.

Yeah, that would definitely be annoying. It sounds like a possible scripting error.

In the case of the bug I encountered, I was annoyed enough to submit a bug report, and at least Gameloft has a bug tracker that anyone can see.

The only other game in recent memory that managed to piss me off so much was Batman: Arkham Knight. I was surprised that even all these years later, a complaint that many still have is the game crashing almost constantly while using the Batmobile. I was playing this on my PS5 just a few months ago and the crashing got so bad as to make the game completely unplayable. You would think the use of SSDs vs hard drives would make the game more reliable, but that isn't the case. And it's not like it was a bad game. I was enjoying it quite a bit, but the technical issues forced me to stop playing.
