I hope that Star Trek will be the best movie so far in the series since it is neither a fan-only-movie like Generations or The Search for Spock nor a sequel to an episode like TWOK or FC.

What do you expect?

Not only will it be the best Star Trek movie it will be the best Movie ever made!

All people who see it, from those who wear diapers to Depends will leave the theater singing its praises.

Little kids will be telling their parents they want to be a starship captain like Kirk when they grow up. Elderly people will be thanking God for allowing them to live long enough to see and be a part of this Earth Changing Event.

The Age of Aquarius will begin.

I have very few expectations other than hoping there is a good story, a lot of kick-butt action and to just be entertained.

I'll have plenty of time to pick the movie a part after I see it.

I don't know, but I certainly hope it will be the best Trek so far. It has a proper director for a start so that should help.........*hides*

I think it'll be a good movie. Maybe not teh best evar, but it doesn't really need to be, it just needs to be entertaining. My only concerns are really the comedy element, which is something of a Pavlovian response for me at this point.

I expect it to be average.

I hope I'm not disappointed.

I REALLY hope it's better than that....

But I have zero faith in reboots, reimaginings or anything else of that kin.

If we're defining "average" relative to the other Trek films, I am confident it will at least be average.

I suspect this movie will be quite good and will be appreciated by both non-fans (who will then BECOME Trek fans) and existing fans.

Most existing fans (those with true heart, anyway) will feel, however, that due to it altering the timeline so much, it will be not a part of the Trek universe we knew. From now on, this new sub-genre will be called "nu-Trek", and due to its having erased all we know from the original timeline (until any time that 24th century Trek is shown to be virtually unchanged) there will be a love/hate relationship that will cause much gastric disturbance for decades to come.

Or something like that.

Oh yeah...

There will be balloons too. Lots and lots of balloons.

I voted that it will be very good, but not the best one so far.

It would be extremely hard to beat TWOK....and I just don't see that happening.

I suspect we've seen most of the the good parts already.

I suspect you are wrong

we've seen barely any complete action scenes, only small bits of quite a few different ones and almost no dialogue. I think there is much more in store.

I dunno at the moment, I'm loving everything I've seen so far with the new film, but theres always a film that you see a trailer for and you think "holy mother of fuck, all over, and around my face please"... or something like that, but anyway you finally go watch the film, and it's worse than a swift kick in the groin.

But my expectations are high at the moment. I'm sure even the hardcore trekkie fans who have nightmares of canon violations are going to be impressed.

This movie has lot potential to be the best Trek movie ever. Because for the first time in Trek movie history, we have much younger hotter actors and actresses playing Kirk & co during their prime.
This alone should appeal to younger audiences that Trek desperately need right now.

....Younger hotter actors and actresses is one of your deciding factors of greatness?

Well, that's certainly...different.
