What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Geordi's rise is more meteoric - from junior Lt at the helm to Lt Commander and chief engineer within about 12 months.

Dax had at least three years as Lieutenant, and a promotion was justified, especially as Sisko's promotion left a gulf in the chain of command. She did discover the wormhole, after all.

Wish they’d kept the far superior TMP orchestration…
They started moving in that direction in later seasons, but it never quite got there. Maybe not as many available instruments and sub-par mixing in post due to budget constraints. Season 1's version was quite plinky and anemic.

They also just cut the bars differently, and awkwardly (in my opinion, of course). Because of both that and the orchestration, it never has the oomph of the movie version, and feels more like what they’d play at the Oscars when Shatner or Stewart come up for a speech or something.

Well, they did come up with an original, new theme, they just decided not to use it.

Thanks the Prophets. This sounds like a parody theme tune. It’s just so cheesy.

There are those who believe that life here be-- Er, sorry. I'll start again...

There are those who believe that the theme was written for TNG and are rather confused by why they would have gone back and dubbed "the bad one" with TNG's theme.

A slight exaggeration, but I have seen people watch TMP for the first time and be perplexed with the film using the TNG theme.

Maybe that could be the theme for The Last Frontier: The New Generation featuring the crew of the USS Adventure (20-1-D) ;)

Controversial opinion: Fan opinions don’t matter, and never did. That includes this one.

Tell that to the current powers that be that changed the Klingons back to what they looked like prior to DISCO season 1.

Or the powers that be that "refitted" the NX-01 by adding an engineering hull after ENT went off the air.

At least with the NX-01 Refit that was Doug Drexler's idea to begin with, dates back to 2005 and he designed the original ship to begin with. I see it as much Drexler's achievement as Terry Matalas' decision to include the Refit at the Fleet Museum so that it would now be canon.
