What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Oh, we're doing rankings in the controversial opinions thread? In that case I need to add a couple of extra seasons...
  1. Disco 2
  2. Picard 3
  3. Disco 1
  4. Picard 1
  5. Disco 5
  6. Picard 2
  7. Disco 3
  8. Disco 4
  9. SNW 2
  10. SNW 1
Well, I was anyway. It's New Trek. Most people don't like it in the combination that I do. Thus... Controversial Opinion.

It would've been even more controversial if I included SNW, but I don't rank seasons unless I've seen all the episodes in it at least twice. Some episodes I haven't even seen once, and none of them twice. So, I didn't do that. I want to be fair.

I'm probably lucky I didn't include how I rated the seasons in my rankings. My "least" favorite, PIC Season 2, I give an 8.1 out of 10. My favorite, PIC Season 3, I give a 9.2 out of 10. So, it's not like I have a huge gulf between seasons like some other people have. This is for fun. At least for me.

EDITED TO ADD: I still have to re-watch the last two episodes of DSC Season 5, but it's mathematically impossible at this point for it to overtake DSC Seasons 1 and 4 (my favorite seasons of that series), and it's ahead enough of DSC Seasons 2 and 3 (my "least" favorites), that I felt like I could rank it early. Season 5 is squarely in my middle.

Oh, I didn't mean to come off like I was accusing you of posting in the wrong thread or whatever. I was just explaining that I was making my own ranking suitably controversial so I could join in.

I haven't been as generous with my own ratings, my averages go from 5.7 to 7.7, but I've enjoyed most of what I've seen. Picard season 2's plot might have been nonsense but I liked the characters enough to go along with it. Only Strange New Worlds put me off to the point where I decided to quit watching the show. But then I ended up watching the second season anyway, so I dunno. I guess I'm a fan of modern Star Trek or something.

UPDATE: I've found Babylon 5 on Tubi. It's free, so I don't have to buy the entire series on DVD/Blu-Ray like I thought. It doesn't look like Tubi has "The Gathering". But, I did find "The Gathering" on archive.org.

So, now that I've been able to find out how to watch B5 for free, I'm going to move up my plans for watching DS9 and B5. Instead of this fall, it's going to be July. Shortly after the 4th.

Discovery's done, Picard's done, I'm getting to the point where I've said almost everything I wanted to say about them, I'm not that interested in the rest of New Trek, everything is up in the air at Paramount anyway (so I don't see any point in my speculating about the Future of Trek right now... ), and that leaves a vacuum.

Which makes it the perfect time to dive back into DS9.

Data shouldn't have been brought back (If they brought back Data, why not Yar or Icheb?)
The Berman era producers were not going to leave Data on the opposite side of living; from the start of TNG, the shameless intent was to make Data the Spock clone, and have him learn about humanity through his "connection" to Picard (and Riker to a lesser degree) in the way Spock would open himself to his human half thanks to his friendships with Kirk & McCoy. Obviously, that formula only worked one time, and Picard being more of a cold fish did not leave Data much to learn from. That said, Data was TNG's Spock clone, so he had to return...though not in the meaningful, insightful way Spock did in TSFS, but as download into a new Data dolly. Typically heartless, cold TNG material.

Right down to merging with the ship's computer a la Spock's Brain ("Hi, there! I'm your seriously pissed off ship's security system!")
