He did. Part of a greater arc.I'm not a big DISCO fan but this couple was one of the best things about the show. I just hated that Culber was killed so soon and how he was killed (I heard he comes back though...)
Controversial opinion (or maybe not): Stamets and Culber are the most realistic relationship shown in all of Star Trek.
Good taste in Star Trek!I haven't seen much Star Trek (only the movies, The Original Series, and Picard), so I probably don't have many controversial opinions, but here goes:
- Shatner is not a bad actor
- First Contact is the best movie
Well, I was anyway. It's New Trek. Most people don't like it in the combination that I do. Thus... Controversial Opinion.Oh, we're doing rankings in the controversial opinions thread? In that case I need to add a couple of extra seasons...
- Disco 2
- Picard 3
- Disco 1
- Picard 1
- Disco 5
- Picard 2
- Disco 3
- Disco 4
- SNW 2
- SNW 1
Oh, I didn't mean to come off like I was accusing you of posting in the wrong thread or whatever. I was just explaining that I was making my own ranking suitably controversial so I could join in.Well, I was anyway. It's New Trek. Most people don't like it in the combination that I do. Thus... Controversial Opinion.

He has his hammy moments but being over the top is not the same as being a bad actor. And he also has his amazing moments. I don't know how he became a punchline when there are so many worse actors in Hollywood.Shatner is a brilliant actor, I never doubted that.
Welcome and I can agree on the first oneI haven't seen much Star Trek (only the movies, The Original Series, and Picard), so I probably don't have many controversial opinions, but here goes:

The Berman era producers were not going to leave Data on the opposite side of living; from the start of TNG, the shameless intent was to make Data the Spock clone, and have him learn about humanity through his "connection" to Picard (and Riker to a lesser degree) in the way Spock would open himself to his human half thanks to his friendships with Kirk & McCoy. Obviously, that formula only worked one time, and Picard being more of a cold fish did not leave Data much to learn from. That said, Data was TNG's Spock clone, so he had to return...though not in the meaningful, insightful way Spock did in TSFS, but as download into a new Data dolly. Typically heartless, cold TNG material.Data shouldn't have been brought back (If they brought back Data, why not Yar or Icheb?)

Motion Picture is the most "Star Trek" of any movie.
Remaking a Star Trek episode is cheating.Motion Picture is the most "Star Trek" of any movie.
Remaking a Star Trek episode is cheating.
That's definitely true. I like the film but it's definitely smaller in scale than most of the other films and feels like it might have worked better as a 45-minute TV episode rather than a 2-hour-plus movie.Motion Picture is the most "Star Trek" of any movie.
