What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

They're all good in different ways...
1. Kirk - The Original
2. Picard - The Diplomat
3. Sisko - The Well Rounded
4. Janeway - The Chuck Norris of Trek
5. Archer - Uhhhh... Ok, some are better than others.
So Captain Jellico misses the cut once again. I guess you guys just don't like a disciplined working environment ;)

I also omitted Pike, Worf, Tuvok, Chakotay, and a number of others who were seen in command for relatively brief periods of time. But be that as it may, Jellico would lose serious points for initiating a major organizational change on the eve of battle. Even if four shifts ARE better than three (DS9 suggests that they are, but remember that they run a 26-hour day), you make the switch during a period of routine activity.

Surviving for 7 years without any support in a quadrant that is more often hostile than friendly probably is something not every Starfleet captain can pull off and is quite the achievement of Janeway (or rather, of the entire Voyager crew).

What I don't like though is the way the writers of later Voyager seemed determined to let her win every encounter- and be smug about it. Every Starfleet Captain before Janeway has known the moment of the (occasional) defeat, can't win scenario, or simply being outsmarted / outmaneuvered by the antagonist - Kirk, Picard, and Sisko certainly have, and Janeway has known it, too - it's just that these moments did seem to become rarer and rarer as Voyager's arc went on.

That's just my feeling when watching Voyager, though. An objective analysis of the series might prove me wrong.
