Avery Brooks is a better actor than Patrick Stewart. I love the ‘it’s REAL’ monologue because it’s played with such vulnerability and honesty whereas Stewart in something such as his ‘Sarek’ monologue just seems to be challenging himself to a spitting/drooling histrionics contest.

Lorca's the best captain.

I was honestly a bit disappointed when the Lorca reveal came around. Before that, he was my favorite ST Captain next to Kirk. I mean, on the one hand, great twist. But on the other... Shit, man, you took my second favorite Captain away.
