What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

It looks like a squished milk dud. Was gonna say turd, but don’t want to be insulting.

Y’know, I missed most of TNG first run. Maybe that’s why I don’t love it. Fond of DS9 and VOY though. I like Voyager’s lines too.

Enterprise Rankings:
  1. 1701-D
  2. 1701-A
  3. 1701-E
  4. 1701-B
  5. 1701
  6. 1701 (Kelvin)
  7. NX-01
  8. 1701-C
Or perhaps I like the B more than the E. You know, I think I've put the OG 1701 way too low... or maybe not? At least I'm pretty happy with the top and the bottom of the rankings. For now.

The E is just a very 'eh' ship for me. It looks like a cool version of the way that Starfleet ships were starting to look at that time I guess... but, eh, I even prefer the D. The D is made from very organic shapes, but the E just looks like the Enterprise designed by a committee.

In my opinion, of course.

I like the B because I like all things Excelsior. The C is cool as well. Interesting halfway house between the B and D. I like the NX-01 well enough, and the TOS - TOS Movie Enterprise is great. Kelvin ships are a bit silly, but they are fun for movies and I guess even the D could grow on me. Discoprise is... fine? and I need to look at the SNW one more to form an opinion.

But eh, no. The E. It's the worst. It's blandly cool. The Fido Dido of Starships.

I believe the high point of the Star Trek franchise happened between 1987 and 2001 - thanks to Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager.

The E always looked too 'aggressive' to me. Not as a Starfleet ship of peace. A lot more aggressive than the Defiant for example, which is a dedicated warship.

I mean, the Sovereign Class was built during the time of the Borg and Dominion. So it was built with fighting in mind. Not necessarily peace and exploration

Making it all the more puzzling that the E-E was sidelined with diplomatic duty during the war.

I think the primary reason why it was on diplomatic duty was only because Picard is such an accomplished diplomat.

I recall early fan sites and booklets calling her a Battleship (in the same way 1701 was a Heavy Cruiser)

The Enterprise E, the refit/A and the Discoprise/SNW connie are all joint favourite for me.

Honourable mention to the Phase 2 Enterprise.

The D, I didn't like initially - until I got the light up noisy toy for Christmas, then I came to really appreciate it by osmosis of protracted interaction.

The B/Excelsior I always felt was a very 80s design which dated very quickly to me. Though I did like the reprise version from Picard recently.

I prefer to concept C/Ambassador to the actual one, but both are nice looking tanks of a ship.

I don't mind the STO F. It's got the sleekness of the E with the sturdiness of the D. It is, for my money, by far the best STO exclusive federation/starfleet design I've seen.

The J is an abomination.
