What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Honestly, it was the whole trying to cram so much into every season. It's like they can't pick what to focus on, and here I've been defending it like my life depended on it. No. Either have a Klingon Arc or a Mirror Arc, not both. Either be about Religion or be about Control, not both. It's ridiculous.

I agree....

But, for me, what really turned me was reading all the well-articulated and logical arguments that people make about its shortcomings online. It was a show that I really liked, but after reading certain fans endless complaining and detracting of the show...I finally realized how wrong I was.

Kudos to everyone who put the time in trying to change my mind.

Yeah, I think my ranking is just a matter of the fact that I'm not as enamored by silly/happy Trek as many others are. I like Trouble With Tribbles as much as the next fan...but I'm more of a child of the TWOK style than the TVH style. Trek works better for me as a drama than a silly sci-fi romp. I like the dark tones and themes of DSC S1 far more than I liked the looseness of S3 or the outright absurdity of LD S1 (which I enjoyed for what it is...)

Controversial opinion: "The Trouble with Tribbles" is way overrated.

The tribbles are great as props and as a concept unto themselves, but the episode is generally very unfunny and nonsensical. For one thing, first season Kirk would never have tolerated the tribble infestation to the degree that he did here in season two.

That said, DS9 "Trials and Tribble-ations" was a coup.

And that last one hurts a little because it includes "New Eden," one of the two best episodes of the series yet produced and a lovely tribute to classic Trek, the spirit of exploration and human endurance. Had Season 2 not wasted so much time on the stupid Section 31/AI subplot and given us more episodes like "New Eden" it might have been #1 in my rankings or at least #2.
