The special effects are good. The acting is fair. The 'stars' are mostly unknown to me, I haven't seen any of their other work.
They designed the ship so all the command staff were in suspended animation in one part of the ship, that part happens to get destroyed. Everyone spends most of the first episode saying they don't know how to do anything. Finally someone assigned to waste reprocessing, who shouldn't know how to do anything, steps in and saves the day. 
At least it is science fiction. My guess is it will probably become a soap opera set in space.
