What are you watching???

Rewatching the HBO series John Adams. Been since the original airing that I last saw it.
Do you own the DVD set? I do. It's the only way I've ever seen it. Great show. I got interested in it back in 2014 while I was reading David McCoullgh's excellent biography. Until then I didn't know the book and the show were related.

OT: I'm finishing up a first ever watch of Third Rock From the Sun through the DVD sets. Funny, funny show. In fact, I have to keep reminding myself not to eat while watching it. I've literally laughed myself sick a couple of times.

Yes. I have the DVD's.

Third Rock is awesome.

I don't know the name, but I'm watching something about a virus killing everyone on the planet and mass chaos. Oh shit it's the news.

The Prodigal Son - Season 1 - Pilot
somewhere between good and very good..., so it wasnt bad. Going for episode 2 now!
oh, and im going to make coffee!!!!!

Watching Joker, to see what the fuss is about.

First impression, the director is really, really trying to make a superhero version of a Scorsese film. Casting Deniro as the talk show host is almost a blatant reference to King Of Comedy. The premise has enough superficial similarities to Taxi Driver already.

I like the element of struggling with blending in as a person with a mental illness in a hostile world. “The worst part of having with a mental illness is people expect you to behave as if you DON’T”.

But the film openly cops classic film aesthetics in an effort to pretend depth. It’s like he’s trying to write a modern 70s Scorsese film but he’s undercutting the seriousness by trying to do it in Gotham City.

I've really gotten into this anime show, Eizouken/Keep your hands off of Eizouken.

I'm not into anime. I can count off the anime I've watched and liked in a single post of a few sentences. Most of current metatropes in Anime are turnoffs: big-eyes style, Isekai, fanservice in every damn scene or near to it, plot lines that barely make any sense, squeaky high voices.

But no, not Eizouken. Three high school girls come together to form a Anime Film Club. Asakusa (Left) wants to draw to make her imagination come to life. Kanamori-shi (Center) just wants to make money. Tsubame (Right) wants to actually do something she enjoys than following the path set out for her by her parents, which was modelling. Can they do it in 2052 Japan? Probably, if they don't mess it up in some way due to their inherent wants (Getting distracted, getting the attention of the school for profiteering, getting caught by her parents....)

I was surprised at how much I liked it, even if it feels a little disjointed at times, but it's just fun to watch.
