What are you watching???

Just finished episodes 6-10 of From the Earth to the Moon last night. Basically, the stories of Apollo 12, 13, 14 and 15. They tended to focus on one aspect of the personal side of the mission, not so much the mission itself. For example, the Apollo 12 mission focused more on Alan Bean and the crew's story, Apollo 13 was told from a very 'earth based' prospective of how the media covered the incident, the Apollo 14 story focused more on Alan Shepard and his overcoming his inner-ear medical issue that kept him sidelined since the Mercury program. The episode on Apollo 15 really gave perspective on the true exploration and geological science that the astronauts had to take on (and learn from scratch) and the discoveries it yielded. All excellent stories and new prospective on Apollo stories I thought I knew.

Outstanding series, I highly recommend.

I think you are the first sci-fi fan I have ever seen who never watched the miniseries before. But better late than never. :)

The Food that Built America, on History Channel.
I just finished part one, which focused on the origins of iconic brands Heinz, Kelloggs, Post and Coca Cola. I’m really enjoying this so far, starting part two now.

In my own defense, I didn't subscribe to HBO back in the late 90's. I started my subscription somewhere around 2008-2009. I didn't watch all of Sopranos until 2010! I've only started watching some of the older HBO series catalog in the last year or two via. their HBOGO app. I'm really surprised that all the years on this BBS, that I've never seen any word or discussion of the series before. Glad that I did finally see it. :)

The Food that Built America on History Channel, parts two and three.

These episodes focused on the origins of brands Mars, Hershey, Birdseye, McDonalds and Kentucky Fried Chicken.

This was a great series, I strongly recommend it. The actor that plays young Colonel Sanders bears a strong resemblance to Randy Quaid, which had me wishing that they had hired the real Randy Quaid for the part, he would have been great.

Last night I started on Yellowstone on the Paramount network. Pretty decent cast lead by Kevin Costner. Popped up on my 'recommended' list on my FireTV. Think I'm going to give this a full watch. The pilot was pretty good, but had quite a few tropes that are wearing thin.

Have you tried The Boys yet?

Another TV series based on a Garth Ennnis comic book.

I'm simultani-binging Find me in Paris, Ministry of Time, Mako Island and Space Cases.

I have not watched "The Boys" and don't think I will. Hubby has been watching it with his best friend and can't keep from telling me about it. I think "The Boys" is a bridge too far for me; there are times where I can barely hang in there with "Preacher."

My wife has been trying to get me to watch this, she’s selling it as “the cowboy version of The Sopranos”, or words to that effect. I suspect she has a bit of a celebrity crush on Kevin Costner, which I can’t really complain about, as she’s tolerated my crush on Kaley Cuoco for years.
