So out of two new critically lauded NBC shows piloting following the voice.
The Good Place: Surprisingly clever and entertaining, though leaves you wondering how much steam the premise has. Maybe should have been a movie?
This Is Us: UP ITS OWN ASS. It's like the TV show of every dry indie comedy about cool guys discovering adulthood featuring actors from NBC comedies between 2005 and 2010. It really believes it is smart and clever, and some critics seem to agree, but it is completely up its own ass. It even did that Studio 60 thing with the actor revolting against bad writing in his sitcom. It's all about being superficially clever and genuine with nothing below the surface.
