well there was also a Vietnam tv show that was on HBO in the 1980s I watched that show more than I watched China Beach.

Found it. Vietnam War Story. It was an anthology series of nine 30-minute episodes. Then there was Vietnam War Story: The Last Days which was three more episodes set in 1975 at the end of the war.
