What are you watching???

Good Place at the moment and then I was thinking the first episode of Sabrina. I thought it was going to be a weekly release on netflix, but the whole lot seems to be there so if the first goes well, I'll carry on.

Olympus has fallen.

Kang sounds Klingon. And the only thing I liked was Gerard Butler. I wish he were a Trek character.

37 Days. A 3 part BBC drama about the events leading up to World War 1. Imagine Downtown Abbey meet West Wing.

Feel like a vintage, black-and-white horror movie tonight: torn between the original "House on Haunted Hill" or the original "13 Ghosts."

Oh OK so that was a remake..... I did not know that.

Was the original 13 Ghosts also a mad house that was a ghost machine?

I like the original version of Sabrina with Bogart, not the Harrison Ford version
I don't think I've seen either (of if I have, it's been a long, long time). - I actually meant Chilling Adventures of Sabrina in this case - though a crossover might be fun:D

Remakes:

The original "13 Ghosts' bears no resemblance whatsoever to the remake. It's a fairly tame, but enjoyable old movie about an All-American nuclear family that movies into a supposedly haunted house. Much lighter in the tone than the remake. It's big gimmick, back in 1960, was that you needed to wear a pair of "Ghost Viewer" glasses to see the ghosts. (Kinda like 3D glasses.) As I recall, a chime or icon on the screen would tell you when to put on the ghost viewer.

"The Ghost and Mrs. Muir". The 1970s TV show was based on the classic 1946 movie. Haven't seen the TV version in decades, but, as I recall, it was more of supernatural family comedy, a la BEWITCHED or I DREAM OF JEANNIE, while the movie is more of a swoony, atmospheric romance. (FYI: TCM shows the movie fairly frequently.)

"Sabrina." Just to avoid any confusion, the new TV series has nothing to do with the romantic comedy. It's the latest adaptation of "Sabrina the Teenage Witch," a comic-book character who has been around for decades, had her own Saturday morning cartoon, a live-action sitcom in the 90s, etc. The new show is a serious, horror-oriented take on the material.

Meanwhile, last night I watched "The Spiral Staircase" (1946), a classic thriller about a mute woman being stalked by an unknown strangler back around 1910 or so. And, yest, there's a creepy old mansion and a thunderstorm. Perfect Halloween fare.
