What are you watching?

^ Spread the love.

I'm currently re-watching nuBSG, up to season 3 so far.

I started with the miniseries/pilot and skipped season 1 and 2 after realizing I had watched them so many times before I kinda got sick of them.

The greatest show ever made.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

Ditto.

Tr...itto? I'm bouncing around between episodes of Red Dwarf, TNG, Futurama and nuBSG on Netflix with some MLP on Youtube. I've already watched all the extant MLP episodes, but some are worth revisiting.

Party of One is my go to episode. It has so much. A party, a pony's decent into depression and later madness, and then there's Gummy of course.

Pinkie Pie's depression becomes slightly sadder when you realize that her mane reverts to the way it was when she was young. Back before she apparently discovered happiness and joy. Granted that the flashback came from her point of view and could be part of her mental issues. Her whole persona seems to be a mask to cover her severe depression. Just look at how insane she gets about keeping secrets because she's convinced that she'll lose her friends.

The most disturbing part of that whole flashback, for me, was the moment she throws a party to try to get a smile from her dour, fundamentalist parents. No child should have to be the one to put on a happy front for the whole family, and seeing it played as a positive thing somehow made it all the worse. The Amish Pony designs used for her parents were hilarious, however.

My go-to episodes are probably "Winter Wrap-Up," because of the song, and the two episodes about Rarity's fashion career. It's odd that while Rarity is my least favorite of the main ponies in general, her specific career aspirations and struggles appeal to me. The song "Art of the Dress" was clearly written by someone who's dealt with unpleasable clients who provide ignorant and ill-considered feedback, and having been through that myself once was enough to identify with it.

According to Lauren Faust who is the executive producer it was reflecting how they felt dealing with Hasbro and the network.

No surprise there. Reminds me of the "Earth vs. Soup" arc on MST3K where Best Brains vented their frustrations about making the movie of the show.

Just finished the first couple of episodes of Dead Like Me via Netflix Instant. Only seen the edited versions on SyFy before now...unedited is way more awesomer.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Episode 8, "Look Before You Sleep".

My Little Pony: Acid Makes A Comeback.

Also, today Sciffy has an Indiana Jones Marathon. All four movies. I have the DVDs, but what the hell, I'll have it on in the background. It's Indy. :mallory:
