What are you watching?

The Great Dinosaur Escape. Really nice dinosaurs (and landscapes).

My Little Pony: Acid Makes A Comeback.

Also, today Sciffy has an Indiana Jones Marathon. All four movies. I have the DVDs, but what the hell, I'll have it on in the background. It's Indy. :mallory:

There is no fourth Indiana Jones movie.

There is no fourth Indiana Jones movie!!!!
I was about to argue, but then I remembered some people think JJ Abrams made a Star Trek movie.

Well, one of them is called "Raiders of the Lost Ark" so I guess you're right. :ouch:
Heh. :bolian:

watching Temple of Doom right now. and you know, i don't think Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is as bad as people say. different strokes for different folks i suppose.

It's not bad. Granted, a great deal of it is nostalgia for me. I like it mainly because Indy and Marion get back together.

i'm not too fond of Temple of Doom myself. its got some bad, over the top moments like Crystal Skull. like i said, different strokes.

Aww, I liked Short Round. It's Kate Capshaw I found annoying.

Nah, that whole movie was annoying.

Emilia was right, the are only three Indy Jones films:

Raiders of the Lost Ark
The Last Crusade (the best one)
The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Now, OT:

I'm watching nothing, unless this thread counts.

The problem with Temple of Doom was that it went overboard with the darker and grittier nonsense, which had already gotten old at that point. And there was the painfully stupid flight of the rubber raft. The main problem with Crystal Skulls was that the action sequences were overlong; and I wish the aliens had been regular space aliens. All the Indy movies are good, though.

Anyway, last night I saw a movie called Beyond The Time Barrier that was surprisingly well written, though unfortunately badly performed.

I don't see how Temple of Doom is any darker or grittier with the heart removal than Raiders or Crusade are with the face melting, head exploding, and aging into oblivion. If anything, Temple of Doom treats it less seriously and more cartoony.

It was the overall atmosphere. The type of violence, the brutality of the personal combat, the corruption of Indy and so on. It's not fresh enough in my mind to give more specific examples, but my initial impression when it first came out was that they had gone all 80s. It may seem tame and cartoony now, because things have gotten so much worse, but it was quite jarring at the time.

Atragon: A fun Japanese film about a supersub built by a renegade Japanese officer out to rebuild the Japanese Empire but is forestalled in his plans by another power on the rise, the Empire of Mu.
