I've always been more of a Scudder fan than a Bernie R one, but that'd be good too, although I'm still not sure I've read all the Bernie Rhodenbarr novels a first time (they do follow a similar pattern which makes it hard to tell sometimes!

I love Bernie! He was my gateway drug into Lawrence Block. Such a great writer, I try to read as much of his stuff as I can find. I read one of those sex books he wrote under a pseudonym.... not my thing.
I have just finished reading Slow Bullets, a novella by Alastair Reynolds. It is an Advanced Review Copy (ACR) and real thing will only be released in June. Slow Bullets is an excellent read even if you consider the short format. For those who are fans of Reynolds' Revelation Space will certainly appreciate this work, though a few times the author's voice can be heard. That can still change with later drafts. Put it on your reading list!
Asimov's Foundation cycle, currently reading "Prelude To Foundation".

For me Scudder was the gateway drug...although actually my first Block book was his writing manual (which is really interesting even if you're not interested in becoming a writer). Last book of his I read was Getting Off, which he wrote under a pseudonym I beleive.
Is this your first time? Prelude was written DECADES after the original trilogy, so the style and the backstory are different. Also there's that annoying Jar-Jar creature..
^^ You're thinking of the Killer B's Second Foundation Trilogy. That had a lot of annoying Jar-Jar creatures. 
Coincidentally, the Modesty Blaise movie from the 60s is currently on TCM On Demand.

The Jar Jar reference was a joke thrown in after I realized how similar my comment about the Foundation prelude could be to one made about the Star Wars prequels.
Just finished Terry Pratchett's The Color of Magic. It was pretty good, although it had a few slow/confusing parts. Next up will be the next Discworld book The Light Fantastic, and probably some more Discworld after that, since it seems interesting and I haven't really read any of the series before recently.

I was set to give up on popular dystopian YA books after the disappointment of Divergent and Maze Runner, but I'm glad I gave Red Rising a chance - it was actually pretty great. I also finished Golden Son, which ends with a cliffhanger and the third book isn't out until 2016; it will be tough waiting.
